Temp Checking Software

Hey, I was overclocking my GPU and got it to 1075 core 1300 memory, but I wanna test if it's ok or will it overheat when I get my games (Far Cry 3 BF3 etc) I saw some stuff like GPUZ or so,, but none lets me get the GPU to 100% load.. is there a software that gets my GPU to 100% load AND show me what temps I get with 100% load..

EDIT: I found a software on 1025Core I'm getting 83c should I go higher?
EDIT: with default clocks I'm easily getting 90c with FurMark Burn-In test.. wtf is this? default settings!

My recommendation to you is to use HWInfo 64.
When you open the program, select sensors-only and bam! you've got my favorite monitoring program.

You can also set it up so that it monitors particular variables and displays them in the top-left corner(you can set it to be anywhere though)
I use mine to show me(in this order, it's laid out in the top left corner just like this:

Renderer in use, FPS
CPU temp, cpu usage %
GPU temp, GPU usage %, GPU Memory usage
GPU Core clock/mem clock(on a laptop, i monitor this bc the clocks are dynamic, not static. Even when overclocked!)

so, what I aCTUALLY see i the corner:

D3D11: 65 FPS
75*c, 100%
78*c, 100%, 680MB
1150mhz, 3200mhz


HWINFO is very versatile, only one I would recommend. I havent found it to read any different temps than other programs do across 7 different computers...so I'll vouch on it's accuracy. plus the in-game monitoring is incredibly handy, just takes time to set it up right.

also, FURMARK is a very intensive synthetic benchmark. It's designed to do nothing but push a card to its absolute limit, so your temps will ALWAYS be higher than initially expected when running furmark.

I use MSi Afterburner for everything..It's an overclocking software that has it's own benchmark software. It has many different renderer settings, so you can truly test for artifacts under many different scenarios. The final test when overclocking should be furmark. After you've found the limits(where your card starts showing artifacts), back off your card 10-20 mhz and save your settings. run it through a few benchmarks for a bit, then if all fares well...torture it with furmark for about 30 minutes. If your overclock didn't become unstable before....30 minutes of furmark will tell you if you're all set or not.

haha, yeah i know thirty minutes sounds crazy...but you have to remember that you're trying to find the limits of your card where it can be called STABLE. it might not artifact right away, but perhaps 20 minutes later it will. Apply this scenario to when you're gaming, and it's quite a nuisance. if you can make it through 30 minutes of furmark without a single bit of artifacting/tearing.... then you can make it through hours upon hours of gaming, worry-free.

 

I use 3dmark 11, furmark, & unigine heaven to test my card's stability. I've heard using 3dmark vantage is better, though.

That temp is normal if you have a reference card. My 680 runs at around 70c with my fans on auto (Just cause I was lazy and temps aren't an issue for my card). You can try creating a custom fan profile in whatever overclocking software you use, to keep the temps down you would set it to run at the same % as celcius above 60c.. but it would make alot of noise if you have a reference card. 60% fan speed for 60c 70% fan speed for 70c %80 fan speed for 80c.

No! I have a fancy Sapphire Dual-X one, the Flex one, it's supposed to OC like a beast.. the fans stay below 70% how can I get them to 100% (they will cool better at 100%, right?)?

Any video tearing, artifacts, crashing, etc means that the oc is not stable. I've had way too many problems overclocking with amd cards.. but you can try this:
1. Reset gpu to stock speeds
2. Increase the voltage and power target to as high as it lets you (The highest voltage settings is safe since most cards are voltage locked)
3. Increase the core clock by 25mhz, run a benchmark. If it can complete the benchmark without artifacts, screen tearing, or crashes.. increase by 25mhz core again. If you start seeing artifacts on your screen you should stop the benchmark and go back to the previous core clock that passed the benchmark.
4. Memory overclock: Same as above except you can increase this by 50mhz at a time. If you get a crash decrease by 25mhz.
5. Once you get a stable core/mem overclock in benchmarks you should start testing it in a few games. An oc thats stable in a benchmark might not be stable in demanding games like battlefield 3, but you can always drop the oc by around 25mhz if you ever get a crash.

I can't see where I can change the voltage on Sapphiure Trixx.. Should I download MSi OC tool?

 

I use msi afterburner. When you first install it you have to unlock voltage control. More voltage can make a previously unstable overclock stable.

wanna ask you something, why THE HECK is my SSD half full, only windows+drivers on it and it's 60GB gone, was 80/120 before 2 days.. didn't download anything..

 

My windows folder is 24gb and the drivers maybe 5gb max. Not sure why it took 60gb for you but it might be related to the torrented operating system you use. I'm using legit win 7 ultimate 64 bit with all the updates installed.

There's a few things you can do:
1. Install cc cleaner to delete temporary files
2. Delete unneeded programs and files
3. Disable hibernate/Delete hyberfil.sys which saved over 12gb for me.. could be more or less for you.

Windows has two power management modes that you can choose from: one is Sleep Mode, which keeps the PC running in a low power state so you can almost instantly get back to what you were working on. The other is Hibernate mode, which completely writes the memory out to the hard drive, and then powers the PC down entirely, so you can even take the battery out, put it back in, start back up, and be right back where you were.

Hibernate mode uses the hiberfil.sys file to store the the current state (memory) of the PC, and since it’s managed by Windows, you can’t delete the file.

Thanks, but I had 30GB with Windows+Drivers 2 days ago, downloaded BF3 and Crysis 2 (none wants to run) on my HDD didn't download anything on SSD and it's now 60GB..


EDIT:WHAT?! now my SSD is 78GB I didn't delete anything/used a program to delete..
