Need help with my pop-shovit :D

Hey sythe... so recently i got into skateboarding after about a year of longboarding i thought i might give it a try. I nailed down moving ollies pretty fast in like an hour i got them down. i can't jump super high but i can jump most of the time. For some reason i cant seem to land pop shovits or even shovits for that matter. I know that there's, at least, a few skaters on Sythe so if your there help me out if you got a Skype that would be even better because you could see what i was doing wrong. well yeah that's it. HELP ME



P.S. When i try and shovit my front foot seems to go backwards and away from the board and most of the time i catch the deck late... i think..

 

Swing your front foot foward and your other backwards, jump in the direction your going to shovit, inwards or backside. Skating takes years of practice and theres always something new to learn. I was once obsessed and i find thats the only way you get good, hours of practice and really enjoying it.

 

Ill try this out.. and yeah im really big into longboarding and i like just skating arround so i thought why not add in tricks? i tryed for 4ish hours lastnight didnt land a thing ahah.. thanks for the coment m8

 

You need friends to skate with, its the only way you dont lose interest, once you're hooked it never stops i think i was skating 5 hours a day during the week and on the weekends i would be at a skatepark. Watch a Youtube vid on Mark Appleyard, thats skating ;D

 

i have like 18 friends that skate so no problem there xD only thing is i wanna know a few tricks before i go to the park since im 15 and im sketchy xD

 

quick tips for pop shovit:

back foot=kick
front foot=bolts

jump forwards because thats where the board will be. and commit (hardest part )
bring both of your knees up after the initial flick so your legs dont go everywhere

 

Mark Appleyard was my idol when I was a kid and really into skateboarding He's just so clean and smooth, I used to model my style after him. Everyone would always compliment how smooth my stairs, flatground and rail tricks were, and I used to pretend that I was Mark hahaha.

 

Make sure you've mastered the ollie before doing the pop shuvit, because it's way easier to do if you can jump high.

 

First of all, the trick is all in your back foot. Practice with only your back foot, and get used to that whole 'scooping' motion.

 

I think I've watched a particular flip team dvd over a thousand times and he was always my favorite. His style and the fact that he skated goofy (right foot in the front) like me made him my idol throughout my skating phase.

 

mike vallely is my idol definately appleyard wheels are the best wheels ive ever rode though, lasted like 3 years haha.

ive skated for 11 years and my personal fav. trick is 360 boneless's down stair sets or into banks, i held the world record for longest 1 footed manual @ 2,344 ft exact, but rob dyrdek's bitch ass took it and didnt even show on his show .....

but yeah, pop shuvs and kickflips are still the hardest and sketchiest tricks i think, but i only do variations now, so its never just a simple 180 flip or pop shuv/big spin etc, so when you get into the back side flips and tre's / hardflips, feel free too ask, i love teaching people too skate

alright awsome! whats funny is i can land a kickflip now (sometimes) but i cant commit to a simple pop shovit :l and everyone thanks for the advice! didnt think id actually get this much feedback o.o

 

when i used to skate i would just worry about getting the board to flip or spin the right way i wanted it too usually with my left foot off the board and practice getting the spin with my right foot ( Back foot) so yeah give that a try if you think it'll help.

PS. Dont feel like you need to know tricks to go to a skate park most guys there although they might not seem it at first are seriously really chill and theyd all like to help you get better.

 

alright ill give it a try, thats what ive been doing with my back foot haha. alright i might go to the park (even though ours is just a quarterpipe two ramps and a grind post so its not even a park haha..)

 

Roll the way ur doing the shuv-it, put your left foot left of the bolts, and right foot on the bolts.
Try spinning with ur right and pushing down with your left.
I practiced it into rocks/grass, mastered it now i quit skating though
