ELO Boosting Ban - Riot Benji

One of the top Boosters here on Sythe (has his own Boosting company), among being one of the highest ranked (Top 10 challenger) in both 5v5 and Solo Queue(NA/OCE). Rito pls.

I think the intent is to discourage potential ELO boosters from moving into the market though.

This is obviously not working. There are many more boosters than there were a year ago. For the vast majority of people, $1000's is worth more than their league account. On top of this you can use services like a VPN to minimize risk for your account.

 

To be fair, there's not really much else they can do though.

I'm glad they're not doing a good job from a business stand point.

They need to improving their detection of ELO boosters. The majority of boosters don't use a VPN and are still active. They need to up their rule enforcement in general, from boosting to toxicity. These public bans are <1% of the boosters.

I'm sure there are many more things Riot could be doing but addressing boosting is not their top concern. As far as companies go, I regard Riot as fairly greedy and thus their priorities are shifted.

 

We can't say. It'd essentially be releasing personal information of a sythe member, which is against the rules.

I don't have much experience with them outside of HS so I don't have much of a response to that.

Riot is pretty greedy though, especially when it comes to their competitive scene.

 

Fair enough. Weird, I always regarded Riot as a kind of "for the gamers" company since League is free.

He did, but that doesn't really matter when you're that high up on their list. VPN's don't make a difference if you're in the spotlight and one of the servers top players, and known amongst all pro's.

Monitoring login times, IP's etc. It's his old account, so even with a VPN then know his origin IP. That combined with he doesn't stream etc it's not all that hard to figure out, especially so if someone's spending time looking into it.

Though I respect the skill of boosters, I hate their guts too. It's the boosters who are the reason for a decent percentage of games where people lose. The amount of people boosted to my rank is dumb, you can tell someone who has been boosted, and someone who actually has half a brain. Smurfing is one thing which is also a pain in the ass, but having a shitcunt who is boosted to your rank do absolutely nothing is so frustrating.

I hope Riot does something about boosters. Banning one won't do shit, and that guy is just gonna go back to boosting.

I don't think boosting is such a big deal either, eventually the account will fall back down where it belongs if the owner isn't skilled enough to maintain, and for the "unfairness" of having a diamond player in a bronze queue or something, you'll always have players in your game who either faceroll or feed horribly anyway so it doesn't really make much of a difference over a longer pool of games.
