    Freaked Out.. Someone Help Please

Ok guys earlier today I tried to turn my computer on but I got a blue screen on boot. Weird, I thought, so I restarted my computer and NOD32 said it had detected some backdoor trojan.

It is called 'Win32/mebroot trojan' and my anti virus can't remove it.

Ok, this will sound weird but..

Every now and then, the audio of an advert, or a random song, will play for like 20 seconds, then randomly stops. This happens like every 20 minutes or so. I have a feeling someone is controlling this, because it happened again as I started typing out this thread.

    How can I remove this?

Best option is get a memory stick and save anything important on it and reformat your PC with a recovery disk.

They can be a bitch to fully remove.

Saving files isn't a very good idea, knowing somethings could be infected.

Your best bet would be to reformat your computer.

I have loads of important stuff on here, alot more than the 2GB my memory stick holds. I'll try to avoid re-formatting, I really don't feel like re-installing WoW for the 3rd time in 2 weeks.

    Any real ideas?

to be honest, I think reformatting is your only option, or perhaps setting it back a few days (I forget the actual term)

It reverts your computer back to a certain date, I am on a mac at the moment so I can't check for you.

Reformatting is your best option. AVG is very good. What kind of person are you if you don't look at porn.

System restore, I might try it.

    I'll try it, thanks.

Tried it before and just now, did nothing.

Probably the most pestering and annoying, though. AVG is not brilliant. And to answer your question, a Christian.

I'll try this as a last resort, thanks.

Backdoor trojans are very hard to get rid of, if you even can get rid of it.

Reformat, or you'll have to keep dealing with the virus. It's your only option.

I'm going to report you for spam, please stay on topic or don't post at all.

I ran spyware doctor and I can't remove the threat as you have to buy the software, however..

Come to think of it, I do remember opening a junk email earlier (One from [email protected], I wasn't going to enter my password, was just curious) didn't think much of it at the time, but hey.

So how should I go about removing this?

TT_Backdoor could mean its a keylogger.

Your best option is to reformat your computer. But back up all your important files first (Nothing that could have been what infected your computer!).

Bump. I have found most of the sounds to be audio from adverts and movie trailers.

Maybe bring it to a professional or something.
Maybe a computer store who wants to help you?

Something like this happened to me a while back and I figured it would be easy enough to back up important files and just do a reformat of my system. The only problem with this is that whenever I reformatted, the virus was back shortly after. One of the files that I backed up ended up being infected and I had to reformat again. Unless you can manually remove it, your best bet is to just reformat without backing anything up, unfortunately.

I did a test a few months a go, i wanted to decide what was better, AVG or Microsoft Security Essentials, and i downloaded a virus, which i had before, and i tried finding it with AVG, and i couldn't find it, so i used MSE, and found it, AVG costs money, and MSE is free.
Just so you can stop arguing about security.

I would consider doing a system restore. Boot into safe mode, and enter system restore. Restore to a few weeks ago and see if that helps, it probably will.
