    Values of britain & USA

There are certain beliefs and ideas that are very important to people. These so-called
values are at the core of both the identity of individuals and the identity of nations. As
values may vary from society to society they can help define what is typical of any
given country, e.g. some people see it as typically Norwegian to love the outdoors and
to praise equality. Some years ago a Norwegian Prime Minister claimed it was
typically Norwegian to be good, which of course caused some raised eyebrows and
accusations of chauvinism. The problem with defining a nation’s values is that you
very often end up glorifying the nation you belong to or simplifying matters too
much. Still, it may be useful to explore and discuss the concepts and ideas that
characterise people and nations, which is what you are invited to do in your
    preparation period.

    “discuss
cultural and social conditions and values from a number of English-speaking
    countries

A few words that come to mind:

    USA: Patriotic, hardworking
UK: Humorous, proud of their history

Literature and films can provide insight... but it could be Hollywood's insight so not necessarily relevant.
