Just a suggestion, you should link some servers up to SytheIRC, to increase the up-time. If there was multiple servers it would reduce the lag & increase the uptime.

You could make it so on connecting to irc.sythe.org, it randomly connects you to one of the linked servers. e.g. random-name.uk.eu.Sythe.org. This would help the network grow, and I'm looking to buy a UNIX shell which I could host an linking server on for you if you wish.

the problem is affording multiple servers; i don't have much more money to spend on this shell than i'm spending already.

also, if i ever was going to link with you, I would have to A: get to know you, B: get to trust you, and C: deem it worth doing

i don't even know who you are on the IRC, if you even come on, so consider that first.

 

Of course. My IRC nick is TM & channel is #â„¢ if you ever need to speak to me.

I'll try to keep the shell as long as possible, but I may link to another server.

 

There is also a second problem, linking more servers means there is more space for users to come on the network, but this also means that the network can be botnetted as there is lots of space to do so.

There are positive and negative sides on this, but the most important one is that botnets will not prevail.

 

Just because there are multiple servers, doesn't mean we couldn't stop botnetting.

This is a small problem that could be solved.

 

Indeed, you could solve it with a BOPM or a nsdl, but you could also insert a module called os_trace. The thing is, it stays annoying and if I remember correctly, the 100 limit users on the network is because of the botnet that came in ages ago.
