Sythe Stock

I don't know how many of you remember this or were even around for the first version of this but it hit off pretty well so I decided to do it again. This is a virtual stock exchange. It is completely free and deals with fake money. It's just to show how fun (or discouraging) it could be to play in stocks and how much money there is to gain. You will be pitted against all other members that join this game up until July 14th, 7 months from now. Creating an account is free and impossibly easy.

Go to http://vse.marketwatch.com/Game/FindGameHighlights.aspx and enter 'SytheMarket' in to the search bar and you will get to the game.

It was really fun. I believe the last game ended in 08 and there were around 40 people in it. If anybody has any questions that I forgot to cover, feel free to ask.

You trade stocks in real time. The market opens and closes every day at real time. You buy and sell stocks at the price that they are really going for, but with fake money.

Alright one day and i'm in first place. And i still have very little idea of what i'm doing.

 

Fairly simple. In this game, everything from price to the time that you can buy stocks is set in real time. You start with $100,000 US and another $100,000 US buying power, with which you can purchase stocks of any company. You can choose one that just looks promising or one that you buy from yourself. All you need to do is click on the 'Make a Trade' option. From there, it will ask you to enter the company symbol. You can google that or search from the links they provide (I find it's easier to just google it). Once you search for the company by symbol, it will ask you to enter the quantity of stocks you wish to purchase. Enter however much you want, as long as it's within your price range. Then when the stock market opens up again, you will have those stocks.

I'm sure you've heard of the stock market rising and falling. The point of this is to choose a company that will do as much rising as possible and as little falling as possible. You can sell stocks at any time if you feel that they will keep falling and you'll lose money by holding on to them. Or you can just ride out the fall and hope it raises to new heights.
