Excited for the Grand Exchange!

How exciting is this? The Grand Exchange finally comes to Oldschool Runescape. First off, I figured we could all get together and start a merch clan of some sort. But, that aside, I just wanted to list some of the things we (myself at leastt) can look forward to with the coming inevitable update.

1. We can work together to make specific items pointlessly expensive so that when people buy them out of necessity, they get stuck with it. Anyone who is interested in starting a merch clan should PM me. Ranks are cheap, spam, advertise, and all that.

2. Since people are clearly unable to negotiate without feeling intimidated or "scammed," the prices will be listed right there for everyone to see. No more confusion or haggling, and definitely no more scamming.

3. No reason to talk or be nice to people! Personally, this is a big one for me. When I play mmo's, I prefer to avoid all human interaction. I don't understand why Runescape and other similar games force me to play with other people when all I want is a solo adventure. When people do interact with me, obviously only out of desperate necessity, I want them to be rude and unfriendly because they have at least 100 million more coins than me and my noob ass will get rekt.

4. I can finally make more profit posting offers and doing literally nothing than I can skilling, partaking in various minigames, pking, and actually and actively playing the game. The sole point in Runecape is wealth accumulation, not fun.

5. All that has and will happen in regards to xp devaluation and general game shortcuts resulting in "easier" gameplay and faster leveling. Nobody likes a challenging game. Leaderboard rankings and accomplishments only belittle the other players and make them feel insignificant.


Not really though. I just made all that shit up.


With every single update, the general RS community tries to vote in more of the major changes that led up to the garbage that is RS2/RS3. What the fuck is the point of playing this version if it's just going to be voted into the other version of BullshitScape that we all wasted our lives on originally?

I don't think the majority of the voting players actually remember or even played RS before the Grand Exchange came out. Everybody you ask will say they have played since 2001 but not one of those people will accept to meet you in the RSC veteran world. More than likely, they're making their judgement based on the ShitScape they played last week because they never knew any better and it's a shock that they have to actually go search and communicate positively with people so they can get the shit that they need.

The obvious minority are the players that have given this garbage a second chance after the other game got destroyed yet watch a bunch of knuckleheads actually fucking vote this version down the exact same path.

Obviously there are other opinions but this is mine.

 

Let me tell you why this is not going to work as something you pay for a rank.

I was a rank in Smoking mils during the prime days of G.E merchanting and to manipulate the prices you will need a lot of people and A LOT of capital, and that's why paying for a rank isn't going to work as you need money and people to get this work. Unless you have 40 Billion 07 laying somewhere around you could start charging people for ranks however I've never seen a merchanting clan do that.

Typical Jagtrash. They made 07 Because they fucked rs3 up with all their stupid shitty updates that nobody wanted, and now they do it to 07? Sigh.

 

GE was released Nov 26, 2007. Well before RS 3 and all other stuff post 2007.

3: You can talk to people at other things besides a 5 second trade where u say thanks to eachother.
4: If u actually think u can profit so much from g/e, go ahead and exploit it.
5: Training will still take you as long as before, g/e doesn't give you a xp boost.

They released 07 because they had a backup of it. Not to keep it only '07'.

Let them put in the GE, I don't see how this disintegrates RS. Do you know how bad ass RS was still for years after GE release?

Some of my best times are after GE release in stealing creations, etc.

There was still a huge social presence those days with the GE and I only really felt the decline when Squeal was introduced. That shit was awful and when Jagex basically made it OK for RWT to happen as long as you buy your shit from them.

Not to mention all the exp lamps you'd get from squeal making training worthless if you had some money to blow.

 

Ok this I pretty much agree with, as long as GE is standalone and the idiots aren't voting in MTX or Squeal type bullshit I'm all good with Ge. I just don't trust the RS community not to be that stupid honestly.

 

As someone whose played this game for about 6 months, I have to say the community is the most indecisive group of individuals. If you followed oldschool from the beginning, it's amazing to see how many people made a 180 in 2 years. I remember when people would get flamed for mentioning the grand exchange in oldschool, and now the majority can't get enough of the talk. It's only a matter of time before the game is a nearly complete replica of 2011. Good post op.

I think you'll find that it wasn't the grand exchange that ruined rs3. People seem to forget that.

What I'm looking forward to is being able to buy something without adding 15 people who are offline or just don't respond.

It's about quality of game play, I pay to play this game and would rather spend my time fighting bosses and pking with friends instead of refreshing the zybez page and dealing with fucking idiots all day.

Back in the days G.E was the shit now all they need to come out with is Summoning and Dung then ill be good without all the gfx updates and such.

 

i enjoyed merching more when the G.E. wasn't there. I remember I was up on so much money and then the G.E. came up and it just made it so damn difficult to trade things outside of it. Used to be able to manipulate my prices if no one around me was providing the same product, now anyone can just put in an afk offer and go take a nap and come back and have it. HATE G.E. SO MUCH AHH lol

Yeah, the moment I see squeal or any variation of it make an appearance in 07, I will consider that game on its deathbed.

I feel like Jagex will get greedy and want a way to make us pay more for stupid things so they will refashion the game of 'chance' that is squeal, and call it something else with different rewards and end up creating discontinued items, etc. in 07.

I just hope that happens way after I've started and finished playing 07. :embar:
