Ban or Limit Paypal for Newcomers

My suggestion for the market : ban/limit Paypal for newcomers or users with little reputation. I'd say 95% of the scams that happen in the market are through Paypal reversals. I personally never take Paypal, but I just find it annoying seeing scammers offering $0.55 - $0.65/M in the RS gold market, trying to lure someone into taking a direct Paypal payment. It's just a bunch of garbage spam to me - especially the threads that post, "I will gift and note it so I cannot chargeback". Those especially, at least should be locked or edited due to false information.

Here's why I think it should be limited.

1) Most scams happen in a trade involving Paypal.

2) OMMs and trusted MMs cannot protect the seller here on Sythe when Paypal is the means of receiving money.

3) The whole, "but it's super convenient" excuse went out the window years ago. This isn't 2005 anymore. MoneyBookers, MoneyPak (USA only), and WU (fees a bit heavy but patience can really reduce them) are all very easy to relatively easy alternatives. If someone is serious about buying gold, they will understand the seller risks of Paypal, and look into safer methods.

4) PlayerAuctions - absolutely no excuse not to use Paypal through them. If the buyer is at limit, they can at least provide their PA account so you can look up their PA profile and see that the buyer has bought through PA, and thus is more likely (though not guaranteed) to be a legitimate buyer.

CLIFFS
-Ban Paypal for newcomers or users with low repuation. Lock threads, provide warnings, and ban repeated offenders.
-Allow Paypal for long-time users or users with say, 10+ vouches in the gold market (no fire cape or dung botting vouches)

 

No support, its up to both traders to practice safe trading, and limiting paypal would effect the essence of a free market.

 

Kills the market. Traders responsibility once again.
