Another Shooting at a School?

This just came up for me when i was on CNN's HomePage:

3 wounded, 2 detained in Texas college shooting


(CNN) -- Students ducked under desks and ran for cover during a shooting at a community college in Texas on Tuesday that left three people wounded.
"I just started hearing people shouting and yelling and running," said Amanda Vasquez, a freshman who was in English class when the shooting erupted at the North Harris campus of Lone Star College in Houston. "I immediately tried to get under the desk, tried to hide ...
"I called my mom as soon as I could just because you never know. I didn't know if this was going to be the last time I was going to be able to speak with her. So I just wanted to make sure she knew that I loved her," Vasquez told CNN's AC360°.
Officials from the Harris County Sheriff's Office are still in the initial stages of their investigation, but here is what they have said so far:
The early-afternoon shooting apparently stemmed from an argument between two men. At least one of the men was armed and at least one had a student ID.
Both were wounded by gunfire and treated at a hospital, where they were detained.
"We haven't determined their exact involvement," said Capt. Ken Melancon.
Late Tuesday night, authorities said 22-year-old Carlton Berry was a shooter. Berry, who remained hospitalized, has been charged with aggravated assault.
A maintenance worker also was shot. He was struck in the leg and was in stable condition, said Richard Carpenter, chancellor of the Lone Star College System.
The shooting took place outside, between the academic building and the library, he said.
A possible fourth victim, a woman with a student ID who was either at or near the shooting, was treated at a hospital for medical problems. According to a federal law enforcement official who received reports from the scene, the fourth person suffered a heart attack.

Only one thing can fix this and no one seems to want it so. I guess we will just have to deal with school shooting like they are normal. Just bring a bullet proof vest to school.

 

Or stick an armed guard in every school according to the crackheads at the NRA.

I was watching this in the AT&T store while getting my iphone5, everyone was in serious shock and awe. These shooting that are happening are seriously absurd, something must be done..

 

Couldn't Agree more. But what should we do? If i am correct after the shooting at sandy elementary school i heard something online which might aswell been just bullshit but that School's can't afford to have a Guard or Guards around the Schools at all time.

 

I am not in high school, but my little sister is and my parents got a phone call from the principal. The message included somewhere along, "We will have a police officer at our school at all times now sometime during this year".

 

This seems more like a run of the mill argument into shooting that took place at a school rather than a school shooting.

 

^ this is what I have mainly heard so far. Of course it will be blown completely out of proportion (which isn't necessarily a bad thing depending on who you are talking to), but it seems like it could have happened at any other place; gas station, bar, sports game, etc. So it's just about finding out the facts and making your own opinion.

 

You can blame the media and government for making school shootings popular.

 

You guys are incredibly thick you know that? Take a criminology or victimology class and you might realize how wrong this supposition is.

It was a disagreement between two guys that turned into a gunfight. It just happened to take place on a school campus.

^Agreed, I have a feeling we would get along.

 

In my neighborhood, there's 1 officer in every elementary/middle-school/high-school and I have seen them around at community colleges and Universities.

How much do you think these officers get paid? More than if they were on normal duty? And would It be more efficient to have these officers on campus for the safety of our children?

 

Or they could be on the streets investigating illegal gun trades.

 

There is one easy method to stop this. Make the shooters anonymous. People are depressed, on the verge of suicide. Why not go out with other people taken with you, you'll get your 15 minutes of fame then aswell. If they didn't name the people who were doing these, a lot of them would go down as they only do it so people will remember their name and they'll feel wanted.
