New section

This isn't a super massive suggestion or anything like some of the others I have been reading. Over watch is being released soon and I was wondering if maybe we could open up a section for Over watch for those who have played the beta know it is a very good game and I was hoping we could get a section about it. That is all.

 

I keep seeing new sections get shot down because people bitch about lack of activity.

I, for one will always support new sections because they BRING activity, especially if sythe and matthew do some SEO work.

I support, and always will support new sections.

We lose NOTHING by adding a section, but we lose ALOT if we never even try.

 

It's been tried before with games like:

Star Wars: The Old Republic
Diablo 2 (Was given it's own section, similarly to Runescape, died out and became a market sub section with no discussion forums)
Minecraft
Hearthstone
Guild Wars 2
Path of Exile
PokeMMO
Aion (Same with Diablo)

We don't lose if it's not a success, but at the same time it makes the market look dead. I am of the mindset of waiting til there is a reasonable base size of threads specific to the game before creating a section for it. If we do create a market and gain a few members from it, only to have it be gone if it's not a success, then we're right back where we started.

 

I'd take 10 dead market boards but 1 successful one over 0 attempted boards.

Sythe MUST make a change, its a forum for a game that has been in a decline for years, new sections MUST start coming more often, even if they fail, you never know we could hit a goldmine and stumble across the next big game for sythe.

 

The market would look like a ghost town. Surely that wouldn't attract new members.

Runescape isn't in a decline if you compare it to the past 2-3 years.

 

I dont see any harm of making a new section for Overwatch if it dies out just simpley delete it, might bring new users to this forum dont you agree with me?

 

Yes, but what if they come solely for that market? If it ends up being removed, don't they leave too?

I'm just looking at what's more likely to happen.

 

People who look and analyze never go anywhere in life, you have to be willing to take chances.

You take risks, calculated risks.

Adding new boards are calculated risks that have a potential minor risk, but with a chance at a huge return.

Adding new boards to sythe is just good business, even if u go 1-10, that one active board is going to be worth it.

we aren't suggesting to add 10 boards at once either, 1 or 2 inactive boards is not going to deter potential marketers that are here for the other markets.

Those few that sythe may lose due to 1-2 inactive boards vs the tons it could potentially gain with one active board is worth the risk.


If it matters, I don't know what overwatch is nor do I care, I'm talking in general.

 

Calm down man, it's just a messaging board. Even the league of legends market wasn't created until after some time, it wasn't prior to it's release. At least give the game some time, not all games being released have heavy market influence like Runescape and LoL, or even the potential to have moderate influence. We have also to take into account longevity. So many games hyped before it's release just comes and goes. This is why I think the current system is better.

 

Looking for more input, sorry in advanced for not being a very detailed idea but it kind of is what it is.

 

Overwatch stands no chance lol. There are much bigger games out there.
