Point System

I was just driving 11 hours straight, and I think of some pretty weird things, I get extremely bored.

Anyways, I was thinking about a way to prevent scammers on market forums like Sythe, and I thought of the perfect vBulletin modification to solve this problem.

What if there was a point system in place, and each member could buy 1 point for say $1. All of the money paid is stored in a secure Paypal account that only Sythe knows the e-mail to.

Now, when someone wants to sell something, other people offer them points, instead of money. And they can trade their "points" on the forums, and then the other person can cash them out with Sythe (it would have to be automatic somehow), and receive the money for the points. This way, the administrators can reverse any scams if there's enough proof. And people with no money won't be able to buy points, therefore it shows up to other people that the member has 0 points.

It's kind of like poker chips. You buy them, and can trade them, and after you're done, you cash out.

Anyway, I just thought that this could be a pretty good idea, so it's all automatic. I'm a vBulletin programmer myself, so I'd be able to do something like this if it was wanted.

So for example, I go to the purchase page (a page on Sythe.org), and purchase say 10 points, for $10. It takes the $10 from my Paypal account, and puts it into Sythe's Paypal account. My points show up on my profile, so people can tell how much money I have to spend currently. When I want to buy an account, I give them some points, and once I get the account, they can cash the points, and the money from the Sythe Paypal account goes directly to them.

Anyways, it's just a suggestion. Something that could help prevent scammers in the future. let me know what you think, or any flaws you can think of.

Ah, but wouldn't the Sythe currency mean an online point system just for fun? By this I mean you buy points with real money and trade them.

But somehow somone would leak that paypal email.

 

No one would be able to see the Paypal e-mail. And this method is pretty much so there's always a middleman - Sythe - which makes it more secure.

 

but what if there was something that would sell for $3.50? Does that mean now it would have to sell for 4 points, or would be be something like half points? This just seems really complicated.

 

Might work, but i doubt it would happen plus it seems like a hassel no one would want to do.

 

I like the idea of it.. but I don't get it? Can't you scam the "points"? I send you 10 points($10), you scam it & cash em out and make $10?

People would charge back on the Sythe Paypal. Wouldn't work + DNS list. Sorry.
