I've always thought why people do this.

When talking on the phone, you use a lot of hand movements. For example, when giving directions to other people on the phone they move their hands and such. I always wondered why they do this, it's not like there going to know where your pointing.


Just see what you guys are thinking about this.

 

I forgot what it is but some people like to talk with their hands so they move them around or somethin... I only do that when I'm getting frustrated cause the person is too slow or something haha

 

It is because you are used to using hand movements while normally talking to someone, so your body just naturally does it.

 

That's true, they intend to move when there getting mad. But some do it all the time.

 

I have been generally taught not to talk with my hands, only my mouth. Some people like talking with their middle finger though, it's quite immature.

That's true but not what I mean. They just swing there hands around, and point like thinking if the person on the phone knows what there are talking about.

 

When you said "when giving directions to other people on the phone they move their hands and such", this helps me think where the place is. My hand movement reinforces my thoughts.

 

shouldn't it be "i've always wondered why people do this."

but yeh its human reflex, pretty random though. (not to mention pointless)

Anyways, it is probably built out of habit, from normal conversation. I usually don't wave my hands around, but when I do I never notice then until I hit one of my friends nearby.

 

I also hit my friends in the face, they seem to be annoyed when I'm on the phone and they are around me.

Also I know I win, don't like him.

And its really kind of annoying tehehe but i guess its because its like whoever said up there its natural.

 

Personally, I've never really hit my friends in the face from talking with my hands. Since I don't really do it.

 

Trust me try to avoid it. Doing so, will save your nuts. Every time I hit them while talking, they hit my in the nuts.

 

All my friends are pacifistic, so I've kept my children safe (for the time being anyways).

 

trust me it hurts. But I'm still wondering why we do that. >.<
