The Matrix / GitS

Recently I ordered the animated movies Ghost in the Shell and Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence. I decided to look them up on youtube to get some sort of idea as to what to expect when I watched them - I've heard great things about them but you can generally find some background information on YT which gets you "in to the mindset", so to say.

I came across this video, which is very interesting as not many people would have noticed this before. The Matrix, a very successful action film which I and most people who watched it consider it to be fucking brilliant, was actually inspired by animations like GitS. I found this video interesting, because it gets the perspective of Japanese animators and applies them to The Matrix, and when you look at it there really is a lot of correlation.

Does anyone else find this interesting? If you liked The Matrix (1999) I'd recommend watching Ghost in the Shell (1995).

I'm not a fan of anime, I hardly watch it. The matrix is an awesome movie and I enjoyed watching it alot. I also enjoyed watching the animatrix, which is a Dvd with 9 different animated films about the matrix.

 

GitS is pretty good, it has some very epic fight scenes. The dialogue was pretentious, but it was engaging enough for me to suspend my disbelief. My main complaint is that Motoko is in the nude for no apparent reason far too often.

Innocence has good moments too but is a lot weaker overall, I think. There were some horrible CGI scenes which failed to integrate with the rest of the film, and the dialogue was far too up itself to be interesting.

Same, The matrix is a good movie, but these I find nothing alike, the story is good on it, i just don't like the anime
