Bring back 'Search this forum' Function

Would love to see this put back online. Sure, we can all still search for certain usernames still, but having this disabled is kind of annoying, and new users may want to use it for finding specific thread types, not certain users.

Any chance we can get this put back online, or news on why we don't use it right now.

 

If I'm not mistaken there's some sort of vulnerability or excessive server load related to the search function. None of the admins are willing to say exactly what the issue is, but I would like to see fixing it put as a priority.

 

Pretty sure it was turned off because it was slowing the site down. Now that the site's performance has been improved considerably more over the last few weeks it'd be interesting if Richard could look to see if it can be turned on again.

 

I don't know why it's been stopped, but I would like to have this back

 

I'm pretty sure its shutdown for site performance.
The search queries ask alot of the server.. and hey you can always Google through Sythe if you'd wish.

So I'm up for this as long as it wouldn't make the site as slow as a while back

 

Yeah that's what I have been doing Lol, but I don't think everyone (especially new users) would know to do this.

I also agree, bring it back for now, if it seems to still give us to much trouble take it away again then make a sticky telling users to use the Google search function. As obvious as it is, I'm sure some people don't know you can do that.

Would be very nice to have it but if it cramples the server then its just not worth it. The site is doing just fine without it so is the server but if the server can hang with it total support.

 

I agree, I don't think it is a necessity for us to have it, but hey if the server can handle it now why not bring it back!

 

Would be nice if mods could at least get it back.

 

This would be a great thing to have back, so If I'm looking for something around the forum and don't know where to look It's easily find-able.

 

It's one of the things being worked on, and will be returning eventually. When, I cannot say. That's entirely up to Sythe as to when he's able to rebuild the function (as it was essentially destroyed in order to enable an alternate search function, which didn't properly work)

tl;dr - It's coming. Eventually. Wait for it.
