    Supplements, what do you use?

    Yes, but not a necessity for muscle growth. Multi vitamins, omega 3, Amino Acids are all very good to take as well, but creatine and protein for muscle growth, especially starting out.

    Yeah, omega 3 is for muscle recovery. Creatine and protein for muscle growth.

    Not sure if I already commented this before but sigh... Look at all the nutsacks saying "oh I drink whey and creatine"... Please fuck off.

    You do not just drink those and get looking like Jay Cutler or Phil Heath.

    Now, at OP if you are as you said "an sort of over weight" guy, no you do not want a weight gainer, you want a fat burner if you are trying to burst a bit, if you are looking to size, just increase your calories properly via the right foods and not via supplements.

    I just turned 29, have been training since 18 years old. Back then I was around 8 stone, now i'm double my weight and I maintain as well as being the term "buffed" for a big lad (6'1, wouldn't say i'm ripped as fuck as that would be stupid, but i'm a brick wall).

    Now, realistically you want to take some of the basics - yes a whey protein powder is great, but there are also other types of proteins you can have other than whey, and the same with flavour and brands based on how much protein you're looking to drink/consume in one given moment.

    Yes, creatine is good, but you should also have it as a cycle a lot like a steroid as it can play problems with you as it will tell you on the back of the labels when you take them.

    Another thing, try pre-workouts, these are amazing. I personally double dose myself sometimes being a retard, and I drink both a small redbull (333ML) and a scoop of what I use is C4 (Cellucor C4 Original Pre Workout Powder Energy Drink Supplement For Men & Women with Creatine, Caffeine, Nitric Oxide Booster, Citrulline & Beta Alanine) and it does me wonders although I get the real bad munches afterwards.

    You want to take omega 3 fish oil tablets, if you're from England (or anyone who is) you can get them from Holland and Barret, best to take advantage on the buy 1 get 1 for a penny or buy 1 get one free offers. You also want a strong multi vitamin with iron in it if you feel you're getting quite light headed on workouts also.

    There are other things you can also take, these are just basics.

    You have BCAA's which you can take in powder + tablets, personally I prefer tablets as they are easier to digest and take, you have amino acids which you need to take into mind if you're not drinking down any of the above, post workout supplements as well and such.

    If you are fully dedicated to training, check out www.bodybuilding.com/ for general information on your training, I also use their app "bodyspace" which has done me wonders when I do the Dwayne Johnson Hercules workout - Dwayne Johnson's Rock-Hard Hercules Workout And Diet Plan keep in mind I train almost identical, the odd things I change here or there or add extra etc.

    Of course they are not really needed, steroids also aren't needed, alcohol isn't needed, and also drugs aren't needed in the world either, but it's more convenience at it's finest.

    A lot of people have got it into their head "oh I can drink this shake and i'ma be good bro" no you're not, you haven't got the slightest clue. I would never say do protein shakes, in fact they leave you quite bloated and can mess up your insides due to not breaking up properly, can also constipate you if you're not able to digest correctly.

    I think if you are trying to gain muscle/keep muscle on, protein is a huge plus. This is because protein helps retain muscle while in a deficit and helps activate protein synthesis while in a surplus. Now relying on it is not smart, but using it as a tool to hit your protein goals each day is very beneficial.

    Not really, you should only use it if you skip a meal and so on or aren't meeting your requirements.

    Using it for the sake of using it isn't required, if you are getting enough from your food in take you shouldn't worry, the same with when you're facing deficit you shouldn't worry.

    You have to lower the volume of your stuff sometimes the same as up the volume to see results in different ways.

    I use Josef Rakich's Preworkout + 5g of creatine before and after workout. 5g Glutamine before a workout.

    In the morning I take a multi vitamin and fish oil.

    Also use Mass Gainer to put on some weight after working out and iBCAA during the workout.

    i used to take creatine and protein powders but now i dont, i realized that it is a waste of money and that i would prefer to eat real food. its probably not a good idea to depend on them, a good example would be consuming caffeine just to get through your workout, if you need that for every workout then you are doing something wrong.
