I sit on a chair all day doing nothing much.
    I eat unhealthily and infrequently.

Any tips for starting to be just, generally more healthy?
What kind of diets/exercise should I be doing and for how long?

There's a million answers on the internet but I wondered your guys' opinions. ^_^

    Guilty of this myself.

I've found eating healthier wasn't really that difficult. Try and do some cooking at home. For example I'll make a whole chicken and a bunch of brown rice and that can turn into multiple meals. Or grill up some steaks and bake some potatoes and eat it with a salad. Tasty, easy to make, and a lot healthier than eating out or junk food.

Just try and get outside a little. You don't have to go to the gym even. Kick a soccer ball around, swim laps, play pick up basketball, play a tennis match.

Being healthier doesn't have to be miserable

But like all of that sounded miserable to me ^_^

Right now I'm not bothered about keeping healthy but I know in the future I'll regret not being bothered now....

Start with just buying boneless skinless chicken breasts.
You can do so much with it, with little effort.

1.You can throw it in the oven plain, make a chicken wrap...
    2. Put some spices on it, throw it in the oven, make some rice for a side (takes minutes for rice)
    3. Put breading on it...
    4. Throw it in a salad
    5.etc..

Also, if you drink several sodas a day, try to drink water. I bought a britta water filter and it makes water taste soo much better, lol. It helps a lot.

I'm not sure if this is a troll thread, because anyone who posts about "how unhealthy they are" and "can you give me advice" would clearly know how to just google health tips/tricks and exercise routines rather than rely on sythe members..?
Considering you're in front of the computer all day, I would just assume that's what most people would do.

    anyways, if you're serious.

Do not cut caffeine cold turkey, switch to diet soda, yes "chemicals blah blah blah" that or continue drinking pure sugar and rotting your teeth and gut.

Drink water, buy a big jug on amazon "warm water" not ice cold, and drink it all day long it will fill you up.

but @wub chicken breast, he is 100% hit the nail on the head with this one, you can do too many things with chicken breast.

Let me know if you need any help on skype.

    Thanks for the tips!

Its not a troll thread, like I said there's a million different ways advertised for keeping healthy, I was sort of seeing what other 'nerds' do to stay healthy. A lot of the people here evidently spend a looot of time on the computer, just like me. :p

Honestly the advice is great, but my advice would be to just do one thing at a time. Remove one bad habit every 2 weeks and you are more likely to shift to a healthier lifestyle and sustain it rather than be tired of it. You will also notice you start feeling better. The habit can be anything: replace soda with water, white to wheat bread, replacing chips with a healthier snack etc.

I wouldn't go the chicken/rice route. That tastes like poo. Anyone who says otherwise is lying :p Haha jk, but srsly, that's not fun.

The most effective thing I've found to work for me is putting together a massive list of healthy meals. Even if any given one isn't very good, the variety makes it bearable and sometimes you'll find you like something especially well and can add it to a "like" list. When you run out of things on the first list you switch to your "like" list.

There's a lot of vegetable/protein combos that are healthy and scrumptious :p

Also a good rule of thumb for keeping a good weight if you're not very active is to not eat till around 11 a.m. and not 3-4 hours before bed.

As far as being motivated to stay in shape for your future. Find a buddy and set a daily time you both go to gym together, this'll keep you from skipping out.

Also if you're on the computer, set a timer for every 20-30 minutes and stand up and walk around your house for 60 seconds and look out a window as far away as you can to keep your eyes healthy.

Yea aha, running is sort of off-limits :p I get exhausted very quickly.

I've started walking the dogs more often, stuff like that.
Simple things, get out of the house a bit. ^_^

first thing to do is get up. Stand while you're using the computer it's not hard and when you need to rest go into the squat position, i did this for hours over the summer to drop weight and help with my squat max. - note: you can sit down if the task you're performing on the cpu requires alot of concentration.

Second thing to do is change your diet, if you're fat kid and have never lifted a weight i suggest doing a protein diet for a few months with as few carbs and fat grams as possible but make sure ur still getting a good calorie intake and not eating at too much of a deficit. Right now at 6'5 250 im doing 175-200 grams of protein a day, if you're any where similar i suggest you do the same. If not take your muscle weight -you can calculate it if you know you BMI- and multiply it by .86 that will give you the amount grams of protein you need a day to gain muscle and adjust accordingly as you go along

Third, start working out. and if you need an idea of how many calories you should be eating a day at your height/weight/age, pm me and ill link you to a site

I spend a lot of time on the computer too. The only exercise I do is running, 5 times a week I go for a 40 minute run (I sprint and jog in between every electric pole). That's about it with regards to fitness, I don't lift weights, purely cardio. As for eating I don't cook, my mom does xd, I'm in University so when I'm on campus I eat sushi or subway, when I get home my mom cooks chicken mostly which I eat with salad. If I had to cook for myself R.I.P, I can't even cook nice eggs lmao.

Best advice would be to only drink water and drink as much as you can. If you're hungry, drink water. Thirsty? Drink water. Want something, but you don't know what? Drink more water. Don't eat after 8pm and don't eat before 9-10am.

If you decide to do exercise, do very little and do more each time. Don't overload yourself with healthy ideas in 1 day and give up, that's were most people struggle.

Drink water.. Lots and lots of water. Start challenging yourself to certain goals.. Maybe every level on Runescape or any achievement in a video game you play, you do 5 pushups? Or 5 Jumping-Jacks? Or 5 squats? (Or all 3) Of course going to the gym would be great.. But you can slowly progress to that..
Going on walks with your dogs is good, I mean that is another thing you can slowly build-up, how long of a walk you take your dogs on. Not only is it good for you, but it is good for them and gives you guys more time to bond. (Because in reality, you have Sythe, your video games, etc etc.. And all your dog has is you!)

With food, it will be hard to drop all the sweets etc, but limiting yourself to 1 sweet a meal wouldn't be a bad goal.. Adding a fruit or something green in each meal can only help you too.

Honestly you may not have any motivation right now but when you start getting in shape, there will become a part of you that will notice how you are starting to look different/feel different and get attached to that and want you to continue pushing.

Good luck man - All you have to do is get up and try, it can only help you!
