The outer glow with default settings, and the opacity at max kills my eyes. If you're going to change the layer style of the piece, make sure the colors correlate to improve the piece aesthetically, not make it worse. The color wheel is your friend.

Work on placement of images to make the piece realistic. The party hat looks slapped at the upper corner of the text.
