Suicide

If anyone you know, or you yourself contemplate suicide.. I have this simple thing to say to you, I first heard it in a song and it made me think so much, about what you're doing (I've never had suicidal thoughts, I have however dealt with a suicide issue with a person very close to me):

"For billions of years since the outset of time, every single one of your ancestors survived, every single person on your Mom and Dad's side, successfully looked after and passed onto you life"

What are the chances of thousands of people, from two separate families, for billions of years, managed to look after themselves and create offspring, in order to make you billions of years later in the 20th century? If any single one of them failed to produce offspring, or committed suicide before doing so, then you would not be here today.

After all that hard work and effort to create you, billions of years later.. It'd be the most upsetting and disrespectful decision to make to take your own life..

It really makes you think, are you really so special, is your condition really so bad that you're going to throw away billions of years of your family living because you feel your life is too bad to continue? Bit selfish.

As much as I agree with the idea of us having had ancestor after ancestor up until our existence, I disagree with this part

"Are you really so special?"

People don't choose to be born, and just because they're given a 'gift' that they don't want, they shouldn't have to appreciate it. As much as I disagree with Suicide, I believe that some people, in certain circumstances, do indeed feel that they don't want to continue living, and if this is ones way of convincing them otherwise, this will be their response, usually;

"I didn't choose to live, and I didn't ask for my ancestors to live life after life in the hope of me. Calling people selfish because they don't appreciate something they were given that they don't want, or is literally counter-productive to them is completely redundant, as I may as well hit you in the face and expect a thanks."

Yes, Suicide, in most cases, probably is selfish in most people's eyes, because people are often blind and don't understand or have never experienced the circumstances in which the person decided "It's time to take my own life". Until you've contemplated suicide yourself, or closely experienced such a case, you cannot pretend to be the judge of who and who shouldn't.

Despite all this, however, I do disagree with suicide in most cases. Euthanasia, however, under many circumstances, I will agree with.

This isn't a debate, this is you complaining about how selfish you think people who commit suicide are.

I don't owe the world anything, I didn't sign a contract when I was born that I would pass on my genetics. Your shit, disrespectful argument is basically saying that not reproducing is the same as committing suicide, because now your family won't continue after 'all that work'.

Exactly. People don't choose to be born, and just because they are they shouldn't have to live up to the expectations of their so-called 'ancestors' after 'all that work', because they didn't even make the choice.
