    Stigmata

Hey whats going on guys? Well I was wondering how some of the members on sythe felt about "stigmata". If you don't know what stigmata is, its basically when a person goes threw what Jesus was said to have gone threw when he was crucifide. People will get cuts on their foreheads symbolizing the crown of thorns he wore, holes in the hands and feet from where he was nailed to the cross, and bleeding from their side from when the soldier stabbed Jesus to see if he was dead.

Theres a more in depth definition on it I'm sure. But here's some pictures and stories you might be interested in if you want to post your thoughts on my thread

First one ( I would have taken a screen shot of it...but it was just too much ):

Third one (this one kinda got me):

I won't sway your opinions with mine. . .yet

Haha...watch the video you might just get something out of it lol. I don't know I was always a skeptic when it game to religion and all that good stuff. . .but I'm always curious to learn/watch/read about it. The video kinda has me in awe because it's not some crazed church people analyzing her. . .they're professors and shit haha.

I've seen plenty of convincing magic acts; that doesn't mean people can really be split in three and then pieced back together, though.

I assume the woman in the vid opts for the last - makes small cuts, and then increases blood flow to the area when she wants to make herself bleed. You'll notice that as she rolls in pain, she clenches her hands, wrinkles her forehead, etc - each action helps to produce more blood.

Also, if you look at the other instances of supposed Stigmatas, they're strikingly different: particularly in regards to the sizes, shapes, and locations of the wounds, as well as the frequency of them. That alone should be enough to raise doubts.

It has also long been suggested that crucifixion would have been carried out through the wrists, since the hands could not support one's body weight. However, in the vid you show, it's the hands that are cut. Isn't it a bit embarrassing for a miracle to be inaccurate?

As for your second example, I'm not sure what to say. He could have done that to himself; is the lack of infection really enough proof?

Very interesting. That definitely could raise doubts haha, but do you think the people in the video are educated enough to come up with some option one? Not saying their dumb, I'm just saying why would someone know that haha.

And as far as how they say he was nailed to the cross, I really couldn't tell you because I wasn't there. But its plausable that he was nailed to the cross by his hands. . .because he feet were also nailed they would have supported most of his weight, and as he was described his knee's were bent so his hips also absorbed some of his weight. I figure his hands were nailed to keep him from flopping over and to keep him straight on the cross. Ropes could have also been used to crucify him...but who knows I'm not an avid believer anyway.

And no lack of infection is definitely not enough proof. That whole article could be bullshit, some asshole could have found that picture online and made the story up. It's more of a trust thing I guess, and it was pretty interesting so I posted it.

    thanks for the reply's guys.

There's nothing entirely special about the chemicals being used. Although "NA(OH)" may seem like a dangerous chemical or something, it's really the most common base used in chemistry. You don't have to know what it is... to find out it burns and leaves holes. All you need is a strong base which can be found in cleaning detergents.
