Over double xp weekend I spilled V8 Splash over my laptop's keyboard. The only keys that were affected were the '3', 'X' and spacebar.. The 3 and X are rather insignificant but it's extremely hard to even use the spacebar.. Is there anyway to fix this?

did the same to my mech keyboard with a can of coke. what i did was just take off the affected keys and just let it air out for a bit, worked for me but yours is a diff type of keyboard so could be different. could also try damping a towel and cleaning it carefully. if all that fails a replacement keyboard/external one is your best bet.

It's a laptop so I've heard I can't take the key off without breaking it.

I have a Lenovo V570 if that helps in letting me know if it's possible. I already wet the keyboard with a damp towel after I spilled the drink but it's a week later and I'm bringing you this problem of mine :p

An external keyboard would be extremely inconvenient so that's out of the question. Can you even get a replacement keyboard on a laptop?

Try googling the problem. I spilled some gatorade in my Macbook (smooth move, lololol) and a few keys were sticky. I for sure thought I would have to break them to get them off, but if you try to delicately lift them off with a small phillips head screwdriver they should.

No idea how the keys in your laptop are put together though so I have no idea.

A little like FlyingToast said, you can try to gently lift the keys, but when you do you can rub a wet cue tip or small bits of paper towels attached to the tip of a screw driver.

Replacement keyboards are generally cheap and easy to find. if you can't pull together 30-40 for a replacement, then im not sure what to tell you. They're easy to replace.

A quick search did the trick.

Thirty bucks, problem solved...and that's an oem keyboard. Looking further, there are even cheaper ones.
Look on the bottom, on lenovos, there are screws that have a little keyboard logo stamped into the plastic near them. Remove those screws, flip the laptop over, open the screen, gently lift the keyboard and disconnect the ribbon cable. Voila, done. Now reverse the steps to install. On the older lenovos, you have to remove the lower palm rest section before you can remove the keyboard. You shouldn't have to, though..i dont think.

Thanks a ton. For some reason my space bar randomly isn't sticky anymore o_O but I'll do this for future reference :)
