So I just ordered an Airbrush and I wanta get some nice stencils to make my life a hell of a lot easier.

Is it hard to make your own stencils? Does anybody know how make really nice stencils? I mean I know I could just print out images on paper and use an exacto knife or something to cut out a stencil but id rather have like solid plastic stencils so they dont bend or warp while im using them.

what would I need like a lazer cutter or something?

If you're accurate enough with a knife or box cutter, you could try any bit of thick cardboard, but likely the edges won't be as nice as they would for a plastic one made in a factory with a proper laser cutter.

I think just cutting out stencils on paper would be better than cardboard wouldnt it?I wouldnt have to transfer an image onto the cardboard iether just cut out the image in the paper.

anyone know how much lazer cutter/burner cost?

You get the the kriket thing for like $100 but that is for the small one... They're not cheap, better to just use and xacto knife and cut your own out of the plastic that those flimsy cutting sheets for cooks are made of.

Laser cutters are highly accurate, but a VERY expensive, it depends what kind of work it is, if it is a one-off, I would suggest laminated paper, or card, however if it is for mass, getting your hands on some decent plastic (not sure but possibily acylic?) and laser cutting it, will make it re-useable and a lot more accurate :D

I've made various stencils for graffiti art, it can be done not too badly on cardboard using an exacto blade although it can be very time consuming and doesn't always come out great. The problem also with cardboard is wear, after a few uses it tends to get a lot worse.

The ones I now mostly use are cut from micron transparent Mylar stencil film. They work great and are strong and hard wearing as well as re-usable, washable and flexible.

I'm sure they sell the stuff stencils are made of in sheets, and it's pretty easy to cut with a good Xacto or box opener.

Yea I got an exacto I had to buy the laminate because I was impatiant and got the shit at like 9pm 2 days before christmas. Ill edit this post with pictures in a few minutes. the n64 logo and batman logo came out pretty good but I ruined the batman logo trying to do flames behind it lol. the stencil I used is fine but I have a really cheap airbrush like 60$ for the whole set lol. I really just wanted to see if I would like airbrushing thats why I bought the crappy kit. Probly going to buy a beter one now so I can get Control. I wanta buy a dual feed one where you can control the spray without spinning the tip every 5 seconds. Probly going to drop like 2 bills on good kit now that Im like addicted lol.
