How do you feel about stem cell research? Give reasons for your opinion.

I believe its a good advancement in science and can lead to a new treatment solution for incurable disorders.

Lots of Christians and pro-life people don't like it simply because most stem cells come from aborted babies. It's still an amazing scientific advantage we have nowadays and should be funded absolutely.

Stem cells have the potential to create almost anything, if not anything that a human could possibly need. I do not see absolutely any compelling reason as to why it shouldn't be funded. I am in favor.

What's your questions? Your title says "reality or not"; do you mean to ask if it's real? Then yes, it's real. A stem cell is a premature Eukaryotic cell from an undeveloped fetus that hasn't specialized into a mature tissue. These cells can then be applied in treatment to replace damaged or dead tissue.

If you're asking whether the First-World country governments should fund it; again, yes. So long as abortion is legal (an entirely different debate), why waste the embryonic material? Besides, it wouldn't truly be "murdering" the fetus if you recycled the cellular mass since they live on to fulfill an alternate purpose.

There's also "adult" stem cells, harvested from the organs and dental material from grown adults. These haven't been known to be useful for anything outside the organ they're harvested from, but that's recently been proven false. They're effective wherever you want to implant them for treatment. There's absolutely no reason NOT to use these cellular masses.

It's revolutionary, some people say it's unethical, well I'll show them. (SouthPark)

Anti-progressive Christians are what slow down this god damn country.

On the note of stem cell research, if you see last week's episode of family guy, you will see how annoying it will be to progress.
The research as of right now is considerably helpful and almost at the point at which, to a slight extent, it can be applied. I can't wait to regrow my bitten off ear :D

It's not just aborted fetuses, you can get stem cells from umbilical cords...

Definitely a reality. They've grown full body parts already and I wouldn't doubt if, off in some remote lab in some random corner of the earth, that they've cloned humans already.

But there's a story from like 95 or something where a man messed up his dick and they grew a new one for him on his own arm and tried to transplant it onto his body. Apparently the operation would have been a success if he hadn't messed up the skin so terribly..

    it really is interesting stuff.

Oh religion getting in the way of science??? That's never happened before!!1!

Yeah, it should be funded and it has the chance of improving our scientific outlook. But it is too controversial for our time still, which is imo quite sad.

I agree with this. There are other solutions for stem cell research that doesn't need embryo babies.
