    RE: http://sythe.org/showthread.php?p=11200179

Why are these not allowed now?

You say it's easy to scam/fraud, but really, it's not. The person using the service has multiple ways to make sure the results are valid.

    1. Make sure the staker records the entire thing.
    2. Make sure the staker takes screenshots of the success window.
    3. Make sure the staker takes screenshots of the duelling hiscores board.
    4. The customer can watch the duel from upstairs in the duel arena.
    5. The customer can view results on the duelling hiscores board.
    6. The staker can set up a webcam to show their screen over MSN.
    7. The staker can set up ********** and the customer can watch.

It's probably easier to get someone banned from than account sales, yet we allow that.

Why was there no discussion? Superman just instantly made the thread and banned them.

Investment services and staking services are pretty much the same thing. In a staking/merching service, you're investing your money into the service and hoping to get something out of it.

Seeing as investment services are not allowed, staking services should not be allowed.

In investing you're guaranteed to get what you invested plus interest back. In staking, you're not. The problem with investing is when the person runs out of money to pay everyone back, it leads to a massive scam. Stakers aren't trusted with that much, and can not scam too many people at the same time because normally they only have 1 client at a time.

People using staking services know the risk of losing their money, and choose to do it anyway.

Besides, if someone wants to stake, they can just borrow somebody else's account, or even just go dice/gamble in a gambling fc.

Don't tell me that it doesn't work that way because of the fee a host takes - people who host staking services also take fees...

Renting accounts is just as risky as staking services, easily scammable by recovering. Why not ban those too?

Scammed multiple bills through a staking service and he did have multiple clients and he didn't scam because he didn't have money to pay back, he scammed because he wanted to and felt he had nothing to lose by doing so.

Okay so 1 person proved me wrong. But why ban a whole service due to 1 bad apple? There are multiple scammers who scam billions in other services... They're still allowed.

Actually, I just looked into the Novo thing. He was doing an investment service.. He guaranteed payment back. Other staking services do not. He said he would pay back any loss.

I don't know why it was instantly closed and not allowed but I'm assuming its because it falls under an investment which it is, because similar to stocks you are offering money with or without the expectation of a growth on your investment. Also in an investment you are not guaranteed a set amount only by what it fluctuates similar to a staking service. The investment services on sythe were more of bonds not like stocks but both would be investment services. A bond can be seen similar to Stui's investment crap and a stock similar to a staking service.

Why did it take so long to ban staking services then? Bond services have been banned for a while. I really don't think they're the same at all. I'd like to hear other staff feedback too, because so far I've only heard from Superman.

I "instantly" posted a thread to disallow staking services as I find that they're extremely similar to investment services, which are already not allowed. I'll bring this up with other staff members, but in an effort to prevent any sort of scams (you never know..), the rule will stick.

Normally the discussion should take place before the action. Would be nice if I could continue to make money while the discussion is going on. But it's fine I guess, as long as there is a discussion about it then I'm happy.

As far as I'm aware, you can't recover an account while somebody is on it.

Recover your account as stolen instead of forgot password, it instantly locks it while the recovery test is pending.

At least that's how it did work, not sure about with the new recovery system.

I am completely against staking services. What always sketched me out is why do these people need to run a service anyway? If they truly are amazing at staking they would profit much more from just staking for their own gain. These people usually just want to feed their own gambling addiction without the risk of getting cleaned themselves. In reality the successful stakers who can guarentee success are DDOS stakers or glitchers which is something we shouldn't associate with. People will give all sorts of explanations of why they think they are some staking God but it comes down to luck if you aren't cheating.

I have had people come to me asking me to use their staking service in the past. When I ask them to assure me how I would see profit they never have a solid answer. Usually they try to convince me that Runescape staking runs on some "pattern" which is ridiculous. People get lucky for a few days and then assume that they know how the mechanics of runescape probability work.

Can you link us to some staking services that have been running for awhile and are successful?

The reason I do it is for the fee, and I love gambling. Like you said, it's a way for me to do it and still make a profit.

I do boxing services (as do most "staking" services), so it's a 50/50 chance. We don't claim to be amazing, it's always a 50/50 chance.

I agree with this. We shouldn't be associating with those who scam by glitching or by DDoSing. For some reason though we have always considered gaining an unfair advantage through a glitch and scamming people out of millions is completely fair.

Staking services are exactly like the investment services. They should be shut down because staking services have even less of a chance of providing a return on investment. It is like closing your eyes and throwing money in the air hoping it will produce a return.

I'd also like to point out how easy it is to scam the customer in a staking service. I'm not questioning your legitimacy but i'll use you as an example.

You state on your thread you are not responsible for losses. You get a friend to duel you and purposely lose. You say the customer can watch but there are still ways to imitate a real duel while losing on purpose. So now your friend won that money and gives it to you, while the customer is out of luck according to your "not responsible" policy.

How is there any difference between a staking service and any dice related thread?
They are both gambling/investment depending how you look at it.
Your banning staking but not dice, thats just bias, they are both one in the same, if one goes its only fair the other follows.
