Sythe Mobile?

Maybe there could be a way to have sythe send you updates like facebook where if someone comments on a post or sends you a pm you can reply from your cell phone? (you would be sent a text message)

 

So...like an RSS feed?

Like a notification system if someone quotes your message and responds?

Like it'd be useful to people who don't want to sit at the computer all day to wait on someone to request them to do a job or to respond to them.

 

I think that might be possible, I believe I have seen RSS feeds somewhere before.


Actually, I think if you can access your emails from your phone, you can subscribe to your thread and get a message whenever someone posts on it. Dunno if that is enabled here though.

 

You can subscribe to have updates sent to your email, but for people who don't use mobile web. Like some sites have features where they send you a message with what the person says, and you can just text back and it replys to the comment.

I sent Sythe a PM with a request for him to look at the thread. So let's see what he thinks about the idea

Sythe does have an RSS feed, if I'm not mistaken. It just hasn't been updated in a long time. Support. It'd be cool..

 

It would be hard to implement and costly to Sythe. It really should only be available to $100 donators, and even then it's pretty ridiculous. Texts from Australia (where Sythe lives) to USA/UK/India/Malaysia would cost 50 cents each. 10 PMs a day to 10 active $100 donators makes $50 PER DAY. That's very expensive.

 

That's true, but there's other ways of sending texts.

 

I suppose, but even with online methods such as fishtext there are fees for internet usage and monthly payments.

 

I know most services that send like ringtones send them via email, so it doesn't cost them anything. Maybe something of that sort would work?
