Heya people just want to warn you of a fairly good scam that I almost fell victim to.

1) An imposter gets the real person, in my case video, to pm you to verify that the imposter is infact the real video, or so it seemed to me. The real video was however talking to the imposter on a different email address.

2) The imposter then says he will pm me with the wrong email address (one used by imposter to talk to video) to confirm that I am the person he is talking to.

3) Once this is done he asks you to pm back confirming that you are that email address to get video happy as well.

4) Once this is done the imposter has used video to verify that they are infact who they say they are. It can be very hard to distinguish the differance.

Look for the following:

- Price - the imposter was offering a higher price than stated on video's gold selling thread

- Speed - the imposter wanted the trade to happen at lightning speed, my better judgement told me otherwise however.

- Random people adding you out of the blue - It does happen but if the offer is too good to be true then it is.

The imposter used several email addresses including that of Nick and G UNOT after failing to convince me he was Video.

Here are some of the email addresses used:

[email protected] (off my memory, blocked and deleted instantly)

Since video has confirmed they are a banned user on sythe there is no need for evidence, just a caution to the sythe community.

I saw this happen when free trade scams first started to come back. It is old, but thank you for reminding others of it. Another thing is have them post on a page, and post the email they are talking to and there email.

 

There's a simple solution...

When you tell them to pm you, tell them to pm you the msn YOU are talking with and to paste a large part of the conversation you've had on MSN.

 

I usually don't trade out of the blue so this never happens to me but thanks for tipping us.

Everytime people ask me to pm them, or I ask someone to pm me.
I ask for their current msn + a part of the convo.
