Donation Ranks

Lets be honest here...

- New

- Old

I'm pretty convinced the majority of the site prefer the old ranks to the new ones. All the new ranks are ugly and the 'legacy' ranks are a lot nicer, I wouldn't really have too much of an issue however I think most people here agree and would prefer it to be changed.

a)revert to the old legacy ones
b)hold a competition where gfx artists can make new icons for each rank
c)staff select new ones

 

Agree there nicer, and it'd be cool but, not as many people was active back then so it gives the older members have a reward for donating so early.

 

Legacy are alot nicer, I agree aswell. However, instead of reverting to the old ranks, maybe Sythe could hold another comp, or the Staff team could deliberate over introducing new icons for the donation ranks.

 

yea this would be great, how ever i also think they need to update donation perks for higher donations also & yeah i'd support new comp, where users got to vote the icon changes thank be great.

 

New ranks could be a good idea.

 

Not too confident that they'll changed, but I fully agree and have always liked the old ones a lot better.

And if it gets people to donate more, why not do it?

Even at that rate, how about a choice of 2-3 ranks per donation tier to choose from?

 

I don't think a new competition for new rank icons would hurt
And indeed as Jiwi said, why can't the donor choose out of two or three different rank icons?

Those two combined would most likely attrackt more donators too

 

It would be nice having 2-3 ranks per donation level.

I'd like to see a competition. I am not lying, I was honestly thinking about posting a suggestion for a donator rank competition the other day but decided against it. So I support this.

 

I`d like to see a compitition , as some of the donator ranks look pretty ugly like the whip(5$) and vls(25$)

I agree with Poke Rwt's point with the legacy ranks being a reward for older members to havedonated so early. I must admit though I am not really a fan of the new ranks (sorry verts) so my vote will be for a new rank competition. Yes, I am biased and yes, I like the rarity the legacy ranks hold.

 

If we're going to see more per tier, I'd hope people would submit non runescape related ranks as well.

 

It's a Runescape based black market primarily so I hope they stay with that theme. It's quite sad when everything original is taken away from a site.

I don't think there should be more than one icon for each level, because changing icons and alternating them is pretty much what a custom icon is, and that should remain at a high donation amount - obviously I'm biased because I have these, but so are a lot of people.

If anything there should be new icons, but not more than one per level.

 

Having 3 ranks per donation tier is no where near a custom rank. Even then you could add a mandatory period of like 2 weeks between changes. It adds more incentive to donate and incentives for people to participate in a community event to improve the community. I also agree with adding non-RS related ranks, there could be a set of 2 RS ranks and then some sort of generic third option for people who don't like/play/support RS which is a growing group of members.

 

I just think too much variation would be 1) confusing to new members and just add a whole lot of hassle which is unnecessary, if it's that much of a problem just donate more.. and 2) take away originality from Sythe, which is already happening with the background, logo etc.

I don't think it's change to the existing perks that's needed - it's more perks.

 

Another idea could be the allowance of old donor ranks if the user fulfills certain criterion like:

# Vouches
# Posts
# Of active months

Ex: If you've been here 6+ months, have 50+ vouches, and have 1000+ posts, you can opt for the other (and obviously better looking) donor rank.

Increases/encourages activity and it really doesn't have a downside in my honest opinion. If 2/3 rank choices offhand is denied then I'd say this is a reasonable solution.
