    Split Infinity Development Process

Split Infinity is recruiting Developers. Please read the following information to see if you qualify. Send me a PM if you're interested and post an application here. If you're accepted you will be given a link to the website, and we will begin the development process once we have all the developers we need. Please stay on topic...

Head Developers - Head Developers MUST be able to show examples of past work. These developers should have a grasp of all other development positions, know how these positions interact and fit into the grand scheme of the overall development process. Head Developers will have a lot of interaction with all other developers, and also the administrators, who will be watching the progress of development and chipping in when possible. They will recieve ideas from Theoretical Developers, at which point they will schedule development, queue different jobs on priority, and make sure all developers are on the same page and that the end result will all work as one consistent area. Head Developers should be in constant and consistent communication with ALL developers, other Head Developers, and Administrators. They should be available and ready to answer questions of developers, and be ready to offer advice and guidance. These Developers should consistently be checking other developers' work to make sure the end result is working properly, that all end results fit in with the area, and that everything is as close to schedule as possible. Lastly, these developers will be helping whenever possible when other areas need help or are behind schedule.

Code Developer - Code development is split into two branches, LUA and C++. These developers will be closely interacting with each other and, relatively have to have a basic understanding of the opposite language. It is a plus to know both languages. Both branches need to write quick and efficient code, slow and laggy code will not be tolerated. All Code Developers are expected to be able to suck up their pride and ask for help if they are unable to do something. C++ Developers need to be able to edit and create new code in the core. In many situations, they must work alongside database development - ensuring their code will work well with the database and be able to gather and write required data. LUA Developers need to be able to create scripted NPCs, create item scripts, and be able to write addons.

Thought Developer - This includes the theorizing and testing of areas, creatures, bosses, instances, quests, and other additions. Ideas should be well thought out and given some initial testing before being submitted for development. They will also be testing throughout and at the end of development for bugs, balance, or other errors. They should be able to come up with some sort of continuity in lore/storyline for instances and such, and be able to base ideas around this, as well as submitting ideas for scripts for both trash mobs and bosses. They should also be able to pick out spell types for such mobs, displays, names, descriptions, and dialogue. These developers also look through Model Viewer and find displayids for creatures, items, and other necessary content, or look for good displayids in game and steal them from those items. They are expected to keep a decently sized list of displayids so the Content Developers are not slowed down by needing to find new ones.

Content Developer - These developers will be working within the database to both create and edit records. They must be able to work with queries. This includes writing, executing, editing, fixing syntax/column errors in their queries. They must be able to manually (SQL) create custom creatures, AI agents, items, NPCs (Vendors, trainers, monsters), and quests (Must be able to create a quest that interacts with several creatures or gameobjects.) They must be able to navigate tables efficently, so if one table has an ID they must be able to find the relevant entry in another table.

Game Developer - Game Developers will be doing the literal in-game spawning and area creation. These developers must understand the NPC commands, the gameobject commands, the waypoint commands, and the modify commands.

    Developers Needed

    - One more Head Developer.
    - Two more Code Developers.
    - Three more Theoretical Developers.
    - Three more Content Developers.
    - Three more Game Developers.

This is a large project, we intend to completely redesign a large amount of areas in the game in the interests of leveling seventy through a hundred, as well as instances. We are serious about this project.

    Tools
Our Head Developer, Eradicator is in the process of creating a unique program for development that allows developers to keep notes of things, everyone can view and comment on these notes. It also features a full chat room for discussion, and might have a database editor.

Thanks for reading, and please apply here if you are interested. If your application is accepted, I will post a link to the website so that we can get started and contact each other easier. I ask that any Moderators delete any off-topic posts as this is solely for recruiting not here for people flaming, or being random. There is no required format, make your own. Making your own doesn't limit you to the amount of information you can put in your application, that's why we aren't requiring one.

Thanks for applying and good luck,

    Zsasz
