Spam

I think we should give infractions to people that post unnecessary comments. Also people that tripple and quad bump their threads, there is a delete button. Just hit delete then post "Bump."

If their msn is clearly shown don't say "Add me." Add them yourselves or add them and then pm them over sythe with your msn. There is no need for faking interest in an account to just get your post count up.

There is no need to post "PM me." You should PM them and then they'll pm you back because the pop up system clearly notifys them.

These kind of posts should also be listed as spam as they are generally unneeded. The pop up PM system is an obvious sign that you pmed them.

I'm using these examples because I was just scrolling through his posts and it reminded me of how much I dislike these comments. Especially when I'm genuinely trying to sell an account and how much time I waste following them up. When you add them they just say "I bought another account." I see hundreds of these useless posts when I'm scrolling through the account sale threads. It's a huge playground for scammers to just spam their way up to a few hundred posts and then to just scam someone that thought his so many hours spent dedicated to posting made him trustworthy.

If people are genuinely interested they will spend the extra few seconds adding you or pming you themselves.

If you're looking out for it, you'll see this in nearly every thread.

 

I still do infract spam when I see it.

 

If they do it constantly then report it, but it is alright if they are doing it for a purpose that is not solely raising their post count.

But anyways, i believe the mds are already cracking down on those types of posts. They eprsonaly cant monitor every thread out there. Report them and they'll handle it extemely fast. Especially hahanerd, hes great at it. For me, i try to put insight and effort to every post i've made. For example, full sentences instead of fragments.

I only see some of those as spam. If you see someone posting on 5 threads in 2 minutes saying "Add me, ([email protected]) then yes they're spamming because they're generally doing it for postcount not trading. If they are actually buying an account and only do it once it's fine. It's just a couple of posts added to your postcount and we all know it's not the amount of posts, but the quality of posts.

The ones like "Nice account, Free bump" are already classed as spam and just need to be reported.

 

Is this supposed to be some kind of attack on me? :laugh: it's not spam when your communicating with a buyer or seller but if some one is posting on every other thread in the market then yeah it should be infracted. I really don't think this has anything to do with spam though, just a grudge you have with me over a post in the community general section giving advice.

so I was in no way wasting any ones times. Also as to posts like added or messaged, many people request that you post on their thread to verify that your who you claim to be on msn.

And Hey guys, you don't get post count in community general, I was giving advice as we wouldn't want you getting banned due to infracted posts like the 3 you have made on the same thread of mine.

 

It's not really spam.. It's just a way to get your post count up.

I mean, messages like 'Messaged' or 'I'm talking to you now' are BS, like he doesn't know you're talking to him. :/

 

actually these messages can indicate to the seller that you are in control of your sythe account. Meaning your MSN hasn't been hacked.

This shows that its safe to trade with the user.

They ARE needed.

 

Never heard of the PM button? You can also ask to the buyer/seller to PM him/her.

 

Nope, not really a personal attack on you. You're just the one I was looking through posts because you started to flame me over a PM, from you saying to hey guys "Here's a little bit of advice, stop spamming." Then I checked out your posts per day and I replied with "Lol, look at your posts per day..." So then you challenged me to find some of your spam and I only had to check out your first page of posts and realised how much I hate how people that just spam and fake interest in an account to raise post count. You can also see from one of my previous posts I found someone with over 30 posts of just add my msn, over half his post count, so, it is a problem...

PMing doesn't accomplish that?

 

The staff is already on this...the market is a pretty big area with a small amount of staff members compared to actual members...if you find any report it and they'll remove it.

Why is this even in the suggestion subforum?

It sounds more as if you want to make your response to Classics public so that everyone will pay attention to it. People are already infracted for spam, and when the spam is not actually derailing the thread, who are you to complain about it? Post count is extremely unimportant and a lot of your complaints against the posts you have cited are frivolous. There are numerous reasons why a person would want to make an intent to trade public and as long as it is not derailing the thread, there is no reason to bicker. Stop being so anal.

 

Are you new here? Post count is for the most of us very important. And yes, this topic is a bit useless, but there are still a lot of spam or messages like 'Talking to you now', etc.

 

Actually most mods don't infract for this... I was just bringing it to their attention, if you've ever ventured to the runescape sales section you can see that every thread is flooded with it. Also, most people do base it off post count/ vouches if they see someone with 5k posts with 5 vouches and someone with 10 posts with 10 vouches they're most likely to trust the 5k posts with 5 vouches. Vouches are quite easy to get just do a few pin trades and you've already got 10 vouches and new comers don't realize this. Yes, I do understand the report a spammer is there but the fact that most mods don't infract for this deems it useless.

 

How do you know we don't infract for many of these things? Infractions are NOT visible to regular members unless they are your own - whether or not a post has been infracted can only be seen by staff.

Just because we don't openly let you know we infract for such posts doesn't mean we don't.

If you a report a post, a moderator will view it and decide whether it should be infracted or not, depending on the moderators discretion.

 

I used to report these kinds of things on my thread and no one used to infract them, they just said "This isn't spam."
