Is the world going to end in 2012?

This question has been tossed around on numerous forums, and has now started leaking onto mine, and I assume a lot of your Facebooks as well.

December 21, 2012 is the supposed end-date of a 5,125-year-long cycle in the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar. People have been throwing around ideas like solar flares, floods, biblical events being the cause of our annihilation.

I just want to see your take on things, do you think that the world WILL actually end this year?

 

Just like the 'Y2K Virus' its not going to happen. There is no logic or evidence that the world is going to end on a certain date like December 21st, 2012

 

I don't see why anyone bothers asking this. Not only does no one know the answer, but even if it is true, who cares lol? Whatever happens happens, there's no use in making a fuss about it.

And this is purely just for my curiosity, I want to see what other`s think about this.

 

From the research I've done we should be looking forward to this date. It's supposed to be the next step in human evolution or something, not some apocalypse..

Yeah like Herman Li said. The Mayan calendar stops at 2012 but people took it as the world ending, but if you read a bit further it is supposed to signify when the human race evolves. But even if the world does end, what can you do about it?

 

Yeah, I didn't meant to come off as cynical, I just think it's dumb that some people can get so worked out about this type of thing. I know it's now what you were doing though >_>
