    Does anyone jog?

I'm thinking of taking up jogging.

Does the shoe really matter? Does it have to be some special shoe depending on the type of foot you have. Or can you just get any running shoes.

I run for about 30-45 minutes occasionally once a fortnight maybe, I find it quite relaxing aye.

This. It doesn't matter a whole lot though, any type of sneaker will usually do.

    Does anyone jog?

I go to the gym and I go on the treadmill for 30 minutes each day, and let me tell you it does matter! I usually run with my basketball shoes but even in those my feet get warm and It's not as comfortable as I would want them to be, they're Nike LBJ Edition.

Usually Running Shoes are very helpful since they're comfy and very light; helps your pace.

I have to walk from my bus stop to my house uphill, total distance like 3/4 of a mile. So might as well jog up it. Carrying a backpack is even better.

I try to jog for an hour a day, I have a pair of jogging shoes. Although I have done it in my normal shoes before, there is a little bit of a difference but not much. If you had a choice I'd get some jogging shoes though.

Yes it makes a big difference.

The first month or so that I ran, I wore a pair of old tattered Nike Shox. Eventually I got blisters on my feet and was starting to feel unusual pains in my calves.

If you're looking for good cardio, jog. If you're just looking to lose weight, jogging is pointless.

OT: Like others have said, Jogging shoes are lighter.

It's not just they are lighter.
I'm currently training to join the Army, so I am jogging regularly.

Running shoes are designed for running, most average sneakers are designed to look good. They have more support where you need it, and also when you run your feet are hitting the ground with all your weight. Running trainers take this impact much much better.

I own some Asics Patriot's. Nothing fancy.

I'm in the army and usually get about 8 - 10 miles a day, 4 - 5 in the morning and the same alter that night. Shoes DO matter. Normal shoes are made for every day walking and are supportive for just that. Running shoes will usually have a slight curve to them, and some even have a thin lining inside of a few coats of the rubber to keep the curve, this helps with overall form and keeps your foot and leg in a good motion. It is like having round wheels on a train compared to square blocks. Definitely if you are serious about jogging, get the proper footwear. I would also suggest gel inserts, but make sure they fit SNUGLY inside the shoe or they will flop about and eventually cause more damage than they prevent.

I just find it VERY relaxing... Gives me time to clear my mind and reflect upon the previous day as well as upon myself.

Of course joging is important, I used to do it about 1-2 hours with running each day before I got lazy. Also helps you a lot mental and makes your psycho stronger.

If you plan on running alot, I believe the best shoes are Nike LunarGlide or something like that.

The shoe really does matter, its more comfortable and your feet won't hurt if your wearing running shoes.
