Soo...Making a toy car, and the engine won't move it =D

    Hey,

It's a part of my assignment, we were instructed to create a toy car that is able to move and complete and obstacle course. I decided to take apart my old rc car. The engine works fine. However, after we constructed the new makeshift car, the engine does not seem to be able to move the rubber bands.

I had removed gears from the gearbox, so that it could fit into the new design, sorry if this is the reason it's not working and i look like an idiot =D.

the 'chain' we are using to attach to the cogs on the engine and the cogs on the wheels are rubber bands. The engine moves slightly, tightens the underside of the rubber band, and stops.

If anyone had a reason why it might not be working, and how to fix it, I would greatly appreciate if you could share it with me.

p.s. I know this is an assignment so i may need to be in the Homework forum but, its not really written homework like normal, so i assumed that i should put it here under hobbies etc.

    Thanks!

Still need help with this, if the engine is fast, but not powerful enough, do i need to make the gearing bigger at the end of the wheel or the engine.

You'll want the small gear in the engine and the larger gear on the wheel if the engine is fast not strong (think of yourself biking up a hill).

hmm, the cog on the engine is really small, and the wheels are massive, but it doesn't seem to be moving it, does that mean it should be the other way around? The engine should be able to move it, i took the parts out of an old remote control car, which worked fine and was heavier so.. yeah

It's an issue with your bands most likely or some other part of your setup.
