Well, history tells us that the staff are not the most honest in the world. Not pointing fingers, and not saying that they didn't have a good reason, but let's be truthful, they are not completely truthful.

Well, I have no evidence to support this claim, just shere thoughts and inqueries.

Previously a staff member's MSN was "Hacked" and as such, the Mod had posted saying he would repay all of the amounts scammed. Many tried to get money off of him, and some even had "proof". Well, as it turned out, this was just a scheme to phish out some of the scammers in sythe.

Now there is a LOT of MSN troubles with the moderators, and a new "rule" has been put out stating that you must provide evidence of a PM and other proof that you were scammed.

Now, my question is, is this another attempt to phish out scammers? If so it is a poor one.

Or is this a way of you guys putting your foot down with all of the MSN problems?

As it appears to me, I simply think that they are trying a more complex way... maybe making it seem more real to the scammers. And they are just trying to phish them out.

If this claim is wrong, please excuse me, but I AM a conspiracy theorist. If you really were hacked, no harm meant. I'm just wondering... is something brewing?

And if it was, why would you post this here?

And yes staff please let us know if you're doing an operation to root out any scammers so all of us can know about it (sarcasm.) I'm not trying to be rude or anything.

Its to make people tradeing (or useing a mm) to make sure they recieve a pm before they trade. Do you take a look in the report a scammer section some times? Theres so many acusations on mms, mods and admins. they are all of imposters and this is to hopefully stop it.

Annexs case was that people were useing the program to make it look like he was talking while he was akf, and if they asked for a pm the person never would have gotten scammed.

We don't have staff conspiracies. You can't say that the Shin's MSN thing wasn't helpful.

I'm not saying that at all, it WAS helpful, and much needed. I'm just wondering if you realize that this is going to mess things up a lot. If it isn't a way to expose em. Then people ARE going to fake proof. You're going to have a major battle on your hands.

People could always post fake proof. It's not going to change anything.

The staff aren't Big Brother -.- They wouldn't try another cleanup so soon.

Lobby was definitely hacked, and some noob did spoof Annex's msn. I spoke to the traders scammed in both instances, and helped them with the proofs. I didn't hear about Con personally, but I believe that as well. It was ammended that Yakov probably wasn't hacked. Etc. The measures recently proposed are a genuine attempt to reduce the problem of impostors, spoofers, and hacking.

It's not going to reduce it.. it's going to INCREASE it.. You're offering free money to anyone who can use photoshop.

I'd prefer it to be a phishing attempt.

This is going to be a good thing. You won't have anymore people scam and try to get away with it by claiming they are hacked.

Yes, I totally see the good side of it. I can agree wholeheartdly, and enforce it to the end, but there is an equal if not worse factor in it. It does prevent corruption..

But it's basically saying "If you can convince someone that I did this, I'll pay you what you what you want"

We don't really fall for false proof; no staff member is going to have to pay back someone who doesn't honestly deserve to be paid back.

Deacon, I agreed with you in the other post, but honestly, drawing attention to it won't help :p

On the other hand, MM's and staff members aren't banned lightly, and with the new rule, I'm sure it will bring added consideration to reports. Ideally, a scammed trader should present an RS screenshot, a screenie of the trade PM, and an MSN window - it's hard to fake all that without at least a slight indication that it was altered.

It's not hard to delete it. Can you check deleted messages?

And I agree with Sin, that's a good idea, but no one will take the time to do that.. so really.. we're back to where we started.

Damn Skippy! If it was a plan, people would have done it...

Think now, maybe I posted this to make people cautious and realize that maybe the staff will ban them if they try cause they're trying to get the scammers.

Maybe I have my own conspiracy ;).

To give you an idea of scale, I had done something similar ~ a year ago.

I hope to hell the staff aren't silly enough to try something so soon.
