"The Merchant Rank"

This is a concept stolen directly from RID - I'd love to see this implemented here on Sythe. Personally I've been scammed on Sythe WAY too many times. Too many chargebacks, etc.

Here's the description:

The merchant rank is reserved for members who have proven and verified their identity.

All we require is a recognised form of ID, with all information except the name blacked out. A legitimate trader with good intentions, will have no qualms giving this simple piece of information. Trading with a verified merchant is safer, because it protects you from risks such as stolen credit cards, and unauthorised claims.

Unauthorised payments make up the vast majority of online fraud, especially among younger people (who may 'borrow' their parent's card for example). If we receive proof a verified merchant has lodged an unauthorised claim or chargeback - and they do not move swiftly to rectify the situation - recognised forms of ID can be given to PayPal as evidence, to successfully dispute a fraudulent unauthorised claim or chargeback.

We will hold this information in line with our privacy policy. It will only be disclosed if an unauthorised claim or chargeback is committed, for the sole purpose of enabling the victim to dispute it through PayPal.

The advantages of knowing who you are trading with are clear, but we can't absolutely guarantee any system for online trading is bullet proof.

To Obtain Verified Merchant Rank

Open a Merchant Application and provide us with the following:
1) a clear photograph of a universally recognised form of ID. We only accept Passport or Driver's License/Permit.
2) a second photo, with you holding up a piece of paper with your RiD username written on it. This is simply so we are able to visually confirm you are the same person shown in the passport/driver's license.
*Edit out any details you are not comfortable with (such as date of birth), all we need is your full name.

The Perks
- You gain a new forum rank visible beneath your username:
- People will be more willing to trade with you.
- You can put the [Verified Merchant] tag in-front of your marketplace threads.
- You also have the option to open threads in the Merchant Marketplace (visible to all), which will give your service/shop/etc more exposure.

The Merchant Marketplace
The merchant marketplace is visible to ALL members. If you would like to extend your customer base to include initiates, as a verified merchant you may do so. People trading with merchants can do so with confidence - however there is no similar guarantee of safety to the merchant. We recommend merchants accept only safe payment methods from un-trusted members, such as RSGP or Western Union.

If a merchant would like an existing shop/thread moved from the private market to the merchant market, PM one of the staff and we will move your thread, and leave a permanent redirect so it will be visible in both forums.

In particular, we would like to encourage the trade of RiD credit in exchange for RSGP, and gold sales here. But it is entirely up to the merchants, the only things we forbid are:
- no trading auths
- no trading RS accounts

I know Sythe is not RID, but we can learn from others. Sythe is ALOT larger than RID, market wise. Why are we so far behind?
