Gold Exchange Markets Rule

(Posting this thread assuming Gold is only allowed to be sold or brought for Real Life Cash) - Simply because it doesn't make sense to have global and sub-forum rules otherwise.

Hi, I've seen quite a few people posting totally random sales in the gold forum that have their own section anyway, some of which actually think this is allowed(Couldn't possibly be). It specifically says it's for buying/selling GP for or with Real Life Money. I think the reason people assume it's allowed is because there's not actual rules saying so, besides obviously the sub title - which isn't really a set-in-stone rule

Another reason is I believe people do it, is simply because it's an active forum and they have more chance of getting their thread seen- effectively spam, should be infractable as it's a waste of staff time. If someone wants their thread to get more attention, at the cost of staff time, they should have to pay for advertisments/buy Sig slots, no?

I think this is important because the rules specified in the forum only relate to the sale and purchase of gold with real life money. Therefore when someone posts "Selling my 9MM for RSGP" or "Buying GP for Cheese", the rules related to the sales of such items are in different forums. So technically if I'm offering a Window Cleaning Service in the Buying Gold Forum, I don't need any proofs xD So I could rightfully post my service in several different forums, without it being considered spam, as it is in different forums(Of course I couldn't)
If you think it's unnecessary to spend 30 seconds adding this into the forum, it would most definitely save more time in the reduction of threads having to be moved, in my opinion. Not everyone infracts on purpose Maybe it would help with the backlog of reports a little bit if it was made a little clearer/set in stone. Every little helps

Defintly Support this, i see it all the time, in the runescape section trading WOW account for rsgp when it should be in the WOW section not runescape!

100% support. people are always getting mixed up and putting stuff in the wrong sections !

 

I think the main problem is that most do it intentionally. As I explained, the gold market is very active. I think an official rule would be a deterrent as such, especially if it were infractable. Obviously some users may do it by mistake... somehow.

 

101% support. It's annoying going through the gold exchange section and seeing people advertising accounts..just pointless spam

I don't really see how, if someone doesn't understand "gold selling" and "buying" then they will take the trouble to read and understand stickies. There's no harm in clarifying though, I suppose...

 

Selling and buying gold has no reference as to what acceptable mediums of exchange are. In English, that doesn't mean that I can't buy gold for cheese. Besides what I already said, the little sub-note, there are no rules in the forum.

As I've explained some people do it knowing they shouldn't, simply to get more publicity... which is why I think it should also be infractable as spam.

Even if you feel that stickies would not highlight the fact that it's not allowed, to the brain dead, there is no doubt that it would act as a deterrent if it were infractable - to those knowingly posting in the wrong forum.

Agree. Alot of people do it for accounts and I think it's simply because 90% of the account selling forum is hack backs, so many sellers, no buyers, so they decide to post it in gold markets to make it stand out/ get more viewers. Another reason why it should be infractable

Strongly Agree, i dont really use the gold buying/selling area but every time i have plondered into it there has always been someone advertising something else, just for the fact it will get seen more often.
This should deter them away knowing the fact they will be infracted.
