Some Kinetic Typography for a Sig

Just thought I'd practice with Kinetic typography, first time i've done anything like this before. Will add more to it later to make it less jumpy, like the text going back to nothing, whenever I get the chance. Just looking mainly for comments/criticism on the animation itself. Thought I'd make it into a sig. :D (Black Star is the friend I made it for BTW)

Simple but interesting this catches my eye. Only thing i can see estraight away is it looks a bit tall, 300-400px high would be better I think.

Just finished the rest of the sig, now has a smoother line transition and goes back out so it's not jumpy anymore.

    What're you using AE?

Yep, just some experiments with masking. I originally was looking at a COD montage, and saw a motion graphic flat text at the beginning, but all the did was convert text to shape and extruded some parts of it. I started experimenting with it, but then realized that it moved other parts of the text to, so I was thinking about it for a minute and realized that if I precompose the text and just apply some layer masks, then the transition would be much cleaner. Also did some work with motion blur and speed graphs, but it's a pretty basic kinetic typography animation, even though it took a good deal of time to create.

Yeah, I did a lot of experimenting in AE back when I was really into graphics. I did a few intros and then got bored with it. There was just so much that you could tweak and change that to get anything advance would've taken me a year or two to learn.
