    Solutions on OSRS Dying

I know there have been a million threads on if OSRS is dying or not, but it's quite obvious that it is. I mean it was bound to happen quick, considering that to play it you need to be members. As someone new you aren't going to pay for a game with nothing to go on except for shitty graphics (even if it is a small amount of money), which is why there is a very tiny expansion of new players. So you pretty much have this pool of veteran players that come on OSRS to relive their past and gold farmers. But as these players quit there is far from an equal amount of players coming into the game to compensate for the loss of people coming out.

So this is a problem, and I was thinking what could Jagex even do to address it? They make it free it crashes everything because of goldfarming. They can't tweak it too much because it is worked on by a small dev team, aswell as ruins the point of "old-school runescape". I'm just curious to see if you guys have any ideas on how to save OSRS from becoming the next runescape classic.

EDIT: Just thought I'd kind of broaden the original thread itself, Runescape in general is dying, why do you guys think that is?

I really don't think there is a solution. If they make it free like say f2p but if you wanna do members things then u can that might be ok. But say that all the actual "players" die off then all thats left is the goldfarmers which then the will die off. So if they "Die" off then its the end but say they keep doing things to stimulate the game and sometimes people still get mad at eoc and come to 07 or go to an rsps also so idk if there is a solution just stating what i think

It's dying at the same rate as EoC. Player rates have held stable for 2 months.

Nothing lasts forever but I don't think the death of this game is imminent as people like to make it appear. I have a feeling sooner or later they'll orchestrate some devious maneuver which makes the old servers flourish for a while again.

You could always turn to private servers but I think their lifespan might be a tiny bit shorter than OSRS.

Although I won't be doing GWD I agree this would improve activity within the Oldschool servers. I'd also love to see Soul Wars brought in along with Clan Wars. And of course the newer game interface with all the player info around the minimap, like health & prayer.

Not sure about soul wars but i do agree with clan wars & GWD will help to bring more players. I prefer to not have the hitpoint and prayer orbs in corner imo it makes it look more oldschool

If they do create new updates, it needs to just be something that mains and higher levels can do. Then bots won't be able to participate as well as ruin that market, and it will make the legit players' efforts more valuable. Anything that serves no advantage to bots will keep legit players here longer.

I think they should add the useful updates such as GE and GWD. They should also make old school f2p available to f2p players.

F2P '07 for F2P would bring in a good bit of players that just wanna test it out again. If they like it enough, they'll join in. Plus it'll add some random money sinks and stimulate the economy a lot more than all members.

Because there're no F2P, everyone knows exactly what to do to get money/xp; making it less money and the xp worth less, you know?

For the activity to rise and fall in OSRS, they need to keep adding updates that the community wants, as soon as they add GWD into the game the large PvM community will return and everyone will be happy, as they're currently still on EoC because a lot of new PvM bosses are being released.

Well, if f2p there would ALWAYS join more and more new old players.... imagine if made f2p, around 40k + f2p'ers would join.

But it's p2p, and now everyone is high leveled, and many get bored, so that means they quit.. if it was made f2p + p2p it wouldn't die this fast. Always some new and new classic players returning.

I disagree with updates such as Soul Wars and GWD, simply as a matter of principle. Oldschool is just that, the original old school game. Once any major updates are brought in, why not bring in more? Then some more? Then how about just make it EoC and scrap it all together? Wait, that already happened once.

Personally, I believe that OSRS should be kept pure to appeal to those who want it for the basics. To increase activity they should return it to F2P/P2P aspects of the game. Then the devteam should focus their efforts on counter-botting options, to react to the influx of goldfarmers that would inevitably be the result.

They should add free servers, then all people from EOC f2p would move over to 07.

No one actually plays F2P, all it would do it let people bot the hell out of 07 on free worlds.

You are stupid as ****. Those goldfarmers are keeping the game going. I don't see you fishing lobsters to go pking or craft nature runes to do magic. So please drop the goldfarmers aspect. It's an vital aspect without the G.E
