What's your favorite show that's airing this season so far? (Winter 2018)

My top 3 would be:

• Karakai Jouzo no Takagi-san - Adorable slice of life and very relaxing to watch. The two main characters are loveable, especially Takagi imo. (Read the manga where they're older and it's very sweet)
• Overlord II - Continuation from season 1, although it feels more political, I still find it enjoyable.
• Sora yori mo Tooi Basho - Inspiring and energetic anime about adventuring and experiencing something new with friends, couldn't help but like it

 

im behind on animes. i watch by season so still watching some from spring 2017 lol

just finished aot s2 and tsugomomo

 

How'd you find AoT S2? I remember seeing Tsugomomo on MAL but the tags deterred me away since I'm not a big fan of Ecchi shows

 

not as good as the first season. the theories kind of jumped around too quick. think they rushed the plot points.

tsugomomo was pretty good. bit of action/comedy and yeah some ecchi but the ecchi was more for a comedic purpose rather than full on fanservice.

 

Understandable, it was only a 1 cour season unlike the first season so they had to squeeze in most of the information, thus the season being rushed.
Ahh so Tsugomomo had fights too? Would not have expected that considering the synposis xD Then again it does have Action/Supernatural tag

 

yea was some good action. shes like a fighting tool kind of. its just a fun comedy/action with a couple ecchi scenes nothing much.

 

I'll add it to my PTW then, I'm just watching Tales of Zestiria the X atm @WantaCookie

 

ah true. i watched that. was expecting it to be good but was disappointed. pretty boring imo

 

@WantaCookie I can see why, I'm on EP.07 now and although the fight scenes are eye candy and nicely animated I'm not really as invested as I thought I would be to the story. Meh most game adaptation animes/shows often turn out disappointing.

 

yeah i watched it through just cause but took me awhile to finish.

I'm also watching Overlord II as they come out. Season is very different from the first, but I'm enjoying it as much in a different way.

 

Probably Death March kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku or Gin no Guardian. I would like to say Overlord II but it really sucks in comparison to season 1 imo.

 

Death March is pretty decent, I just hate how the MC talks when he's transported into the game rofl

 

Yeah at first I was like "wtf is this garbage, where's Overlord." But then it got kind of interesting in a new way. My main complaint is how slow it progresses. Every episode feels like nothing has happened.

Overall I'd prefer it to be like the first season for sure...but silver lining is that I think the new season is worth watching in general.

 

Same, I thought it must of been 24 episodes for the season and then I saw 13 I was thinking wtf they're not going to get anything done this season unless they're setting it up for a 3rd, hopefully.

 

I've read that Overlord has a lot of content they can work with so there's a good chance of season 3, they just can't work around the current arc, people have said it's quite important but idk myself

SAO Alicization is great! Waited so long to see this series finally go live!
Also, Goblin Slayer is a good one, although the manga is better

 

Too much anime is being produced. A lot of it is streamlined, no one works outside the basic formula given. Almost every anime I have watched doesn't do much else in terms of being different.

That time I got turned into a slime? - I read the manga till the current chapter. A lot of the characters are 1 dimensional meaning they have a somewhat strong introduction and then they're just used as a background. They're no real style behind the fights, I want to be friends with everyone. Or I'll use this super cool move last to beat everything. Not really impressive to me.

Goblin Slayer - Shocking introduction to the series, When I first started watching this, I believe this could be a more realistic gruesome adventure story, then it completely flatlines throughout the rest, we already got our first loli elf princess, and tropes. The plot doesn't do anything interesting that other series haven't already done.

ZombieLand Saga - IT"S A PARODY I SWEAR!!!! XDDDD. Anyone who watches idol animes or strike witches are people you should avoid

All of this is my opinion and how I interpret them. When I take a look at the line up, you only get these. Isekais, continuations, cute girls doing cute things, edgy hardcore AMV animes like black clover.
Animation studios aren't doing anything spectacular anymore, much like triple AAA game studios, they'll keep releasing the same trash that everyone liked originally until they just had enough. They don't do anything to promote the art or the beauty that anime can create.
