    Driver's Test?

Hey guys, just turned 17 and I go for my license tomorrow. I'm very worried and don't know what to expect. Basically I want to hear from you guys out there who took your tests already. I'm from America and I heard the UK drivers tests are a lot more difficult than the ones here. Anyways, all answers appreciated :)

EDIT: This is the actual drivers test, NOT the written test.

    Driver's Test?

You should've gotten a lot of practice before taking the test. Don't worry too much just remember what you learned and have fun. I wish you luck and I hope you pass.

I failed the test 3 times for running stop signs and what not before I passed.

    Driver's Test?

Thanks. Well I've gotten 6 hours of behind the wheel practice prior to my permit, ever since then I have been driving on the highways and taking back roads fine, I just haven't been practicing "K" turns and Parallel Parking much. I'm going to spend 2 hours or so tonight refreshing my memory in hopes of passing tomorrow

    Bump!

    Driver's Test?

If you don't mind me asking, what did the instructor fail you for? Improper parallel parking? Not using blinkers? Etc? Just asking cause I don't want to make the same mistake XD.

    Driver's Test?

Well, to pass a British driving test you need:

    0 major faults
A maximum of 16 minor faults

    I had

    1 major fault
    7 minor faults

The major fault: pulling out onto a dual carriageway without properly looking (almost crashed actually).

    Driver's Test?

Oh. I'm guessing this wasn't on a closed course? To pass an American driving test, the test itself is only 5 minutes from what I hear and the test is on a closed course where I'm taking it. Now I know what makes the British test so much more difficult :p. Anyone else got more tips I could really use them! :)

    Driver's Test?

Lol, yes, you have to drive around streets and go on dual carriageways as well as doing independent driving (following signs).

    Lasts about 30-40 minutes.

Good luck for yours. If it's 5 minutes, it'll be fine. >_>

    Driver's Test?

Passed it about 7 months ago from second try. Just don't get too nervous if you make some minor faults. That's what happened to me at first: got nervous, started to hurry and failed..

    Driver's Test?

It took me 4 tries to pass mine (UK), First time I failed because I slowed down for an unmarked crossroads which he then proceeded to slam on the brakes which went down as a dangerous (instant fail), second test I failed for not taking it out of reverse before applying the hand-brake, third test some scruffy chav stepped out in front of me and I braked, he stepped back on the curb I continued and he stepped out again and I failed for this.. third time I'd told my instructor I wanted him in the car with me in the back whilst I do my test and passed with 1 minor. You're right it's hard in the UK but mainly for young lads.

The advice I offer you is to make sure you check your mirrors a lot, if going down a straight road for a bit make sure you're always checking for hazards and your mirrors and make it obvious you're looking at them not just with your eyes. This is a big point that makes them realise you're in control of the car and are constantly checking for hazards. Also remain calm and remember if you fail you can do it again so don't worry, it's not life threatening.

    AND GOODLUCK! X

    Driver's Test?

Thanks guys! I went to the practice course and it's extremely easy, I just got to remember to make complete stops, use my mirrors and blinkers and it should be a breeze tomorrow. I'll let you guys know the result when i get back from the test tomorrow.

    Driver's Test?

After around 25 lessons, I passed first time.

If you look ahead instead of the car in front of you, you will do fine. Awareness is key in my opinion.

Also, once you find have good clutch control and can do the three manoeuvres, you will be fine.
