what happens if you put a game card or whatever they're called on a banned account? does it become un-banned? I read a while ago that jagex were un-banning accounts for real $.

 

I don't think you can even put membership on a banned account.

You can however, go to the forums and there's a thread where you can request to be unbanned. It costs about $25, IF, they decide to unban you.

 

The way they unban you is by putting negative credit on your account. Using a game card is the only way to lift this negative credit.

 

If your account is banned because of rule breaking, then no, adding credit will do absolutely nothing (assuming it would even let you add it in the first place).

If your account is banned because it is in negative credit, then yes, adding credit to your account will lift the ban.

 

Jagex decides what accounts they allow to be unbanned before you can add the credit to the account in order to get it back.

Just adding credit to random accounts would be a waste of money.

 

I'm afraid you misread. Jagex doesn't offer this to everyone; on occasion, if you're offense isn't dubbed too bad (for lack of a better word), then they will send you a message (I'm not sure whether it's via the message centre, or via the appeal a ban centre), and they will ask you if you'd like to pay a real life fee to have your account reinstated.

As for the forum thread, I've never heard of that, but if there is one you may want to give that a shot. I know I'll be looking for it
