Dropped my 5s in the toilet

Just dropped my 5s, in my toilet it was in the water for around 4 seconds my first reaction was to put in a bowl and pour rice all over it then i transfered it into a plastic bag and put rice in that ? is what i have done my best bet of saving my phone

 

I dropped my iPhone 4 in the toilet aswell luckily for me I was brushing my teeth so the toilet was empty. I stuck it in rice immediately after after retrieving the phone quickly. I left the phone in the bag for around a day and a half then turned it on. The lock button was only half functioning but the rest of the phone was in perfect condition. I left the phone in for another 2 days and after that is worked 100% normally. Hopefully the same happens for you but this story tells you there is hope.

I dropped my iphone 5 in a bathtub full of water, I put a blow dryer directly on it for 20mins and it turned on with limited functionality, I then put it in a big bowl of rice overnight, the next morning my phone was like brand new! The rice helps absorb and attract the water from inside the phone so I hope it works for you as well!

 

It will be fine. Rice is the best thing for it. Remove battery and SIM and leave them all in rice for 24 hours. It's not actual liquid that damages the phone, it's the chemicals in the liquid.

 

I removed the sim not the battery but yh I'm gonna leave it and hope for the best

 

This happened to me with my iPhone 4S... I did the whole rice thing and it didn't work. The Apple Store replaced mine for like $100 if I remember correctly

 

RIP gone but never forgotten, they say drowning is the worst way to die

 

tbh i have insurance on the phone but i just really hate having to go through the whole process of it

 

As long as you put it in rice, theres more chances of recovery. It happened with my iphone 4 too and it worked

 

iPhone 4 is master race though. iPhone 5's are less durable but seriously let us know how your phone is I'm curious to see the odds on surviving a toilet dunking.

This has happened to me a few times. Take the battery out, put it in rice for at least 24 hours. Don't turn it on at all until at least 24 hours later. I made the mistake the first time this happened to me of turning my phone on about an hour after being in the rice and the screen never worked again after that.

 

Easy done with shallow pockets, almost done it myself before.

 

Happened to me a few months ago. Since my iPhone was still under warranty they replaced it free of charge.

 

it is still chilling in a bag of rice :/

 

A bag of rice should work. I dropped my old phone in water before.
