Here is a list of websites which may help you before you play League of Legends or in a game!

LoL Nexus

What is it used for?:
Lol Nexus is helpful tool for Draft Picks or Ranked games. It tells you important details about how experienced the player is, if it's a premade, or even tell you their masteries that they are currently using.
If you want to use the feature to check your enemy you must be on the loading screen before the game begins, or in game.


LoL Counter

What is it used for?:
Lolcounter is a tool used for searching up a champion, and shows their weaknesses are such as their items that do good against the, and champions that do good against them. Not only that, it tell us who the champion are good partners with.


SoloMid

What is it used for?:
SoloMid is used for guides on how to play a champion and their builds for every position on the map, It's great for new players to understand the game, with many live streams from the famous group "TSM" (Team SoloMid). It tells basic information such as the free to play characters of the week, and the past two weeks who were free.

What is it used for?:
LolKing is a used to help players understand champions with great guides for both champions and their builds. There are many live streams for newbies or just users who want to understand how the to play a new champion they haven't played. There is also a model viewer, great for looking at a champions and how they act in-game. The item checker is used so you can look up a item and see it's current stats in-game, so if you want to try a new build, you could check the item stats and abilities.


Champion Select

What is it used for?:
Champion Select is used to look up champions and what they could be used for "E.G Jarvan IV can be used for top or jungle." Like LoL Counter, They have there Counter-items and there counter-champions. The best feature of this site, is there TeamBuild (Beta), Used to create a team of your liking, and how could they be used to make sure that your team can win against the enemy. There is also links to the select champion, on builds and how to play there position on the map.


LoL Recorder

What is it used for?:
LoL Recorder is used to record all your games in very small file sizes, all you have to do is run it on background while playing LoL and it will record your games. This doesn't make your computer use more CPU or lagg in anyway.

LoleSports is used to stream championships, such as the 2013 World Championship Won by SKT, Not only that, gives us important details about this teams and how they play before and after a game.

I can't believe you forgot LoLKing. It allows you to search through other players profiles to see the champions most played.. great for bans, etc.

 

Maybe add LoLKing, LoL Recorder, Elophant.

Please don't suggest mobafire to anyone who wants to get past bronze 4.

 

Championselect.net is a similar resource to lolcounter that you may want to add.

They're not the best guides created etc.

Lolking/Solomid will be far more helpful for you.

 

I really like mobafire though... gives good advice in the guides on how to use the champs at least... other sites are really outa date

 

I think you're incorrect, eenee. Take the highest rated Rumble guide for example, a champ I would consider my self an expert on.

• Suggests an outdated Mastery Tree
  
• "Farm while torching the back row of creeps." (Purposely push your lane on a low mobility champ? what? Unless he is referring to the fact that Rumble is awesome and would come out of a gank with a double kill every time before the nerf, this is stupid.)
  
• Only suggests one build path which is rather awful. Doesn't include his first and most important core item (guise). He goes into slightly more detail about building but lower level people who see it are going to see this and think "okay, so I have to start boots 3 and go "Scepter- Deathcap - WOTA - Void - GA" which although viable is not an optimal, and certainly not situation build. Although he does suggest that you get a Force of Nature if you need Magic Resist.
  
• Only explains one generic set of runes (mpen, armor, mr, ms) when in reality Rumble should have about 4 situationally.
  
• Doesn't mention things like taking an extra level in scrap shield early if they have high poke. Actually suggests to level harpoons early and alternate between scrap shield and harpoons mid game which in my opinion is a joke.
  
• No matchup information. (ie. How to lane against a kayle)

People are going to go to this site, pick the number one guide, and trust it to be accurate and play as such.
Unfortunately the highest rated Tryndamere guide is very good and I can not bitch about it.
I'm not saying it doesn't have good guides, but it has very inconsistent guides which rarely explain build pathing and give the impression that there is one build for every champion, consisting of the same items every game.

 

To be fair that guide is outdated. Mobafire guides honestly aren't as bad as most people believe.

I personally preferlooking at solomid guides if i'm looking for a guideline on a new champion.

 

I think you misunderstood me, I am saying that it is useful to get a grasp on how to use a champion you have never played before. Its better than going in on nothing. The guides are useful in that sense. More complicated or advanced techniques will be learned as one progresses by playing the game.

 

Yah, but that's the first thing someone's going to look at when they are trying to figure out the champion. I'm not denying that mobafire has its share of great guides, I just think it is very inconsistent which is bad. My biggest problem with the site is that its format creates a "one build path only" illusion for less knowledgeable players.
