What is happening to runescape?

Silentc0re just posted a new video about botting, and other problems with runescape. I thought i'd just post it here-

If Jagex does something you guys may be thinking, great Jagex is going to stop my goldfarm now! or I can't bot slayer anymore! But personally I think this is what runescape needs, many people have become to rely on bots and it is slowly degrading the game and it will eventually be completely killed off due to bots.

I just wanted to say this because I don't see why so many people bot, it ruins the game for everyone and it gives no sense of achievement at all. Players may argue that you bot because you don't have the time to get a 99, but if you don't have the time what is the point in playing? If you really like the game and want to achieve a 99, but don't want to play often ITS GOING TO TAKE LONGER, but it will be more rewarding in the end.

Don't get me wrong I love the runescape botting community, it has gathered many runescape players and botters alike into one place and formed a great community. But now the botters have really started to affect runescape, in a bad way.

The botting community is slowly ruining runescape, without even wanting too/or meaning too. I know Jagex might not even care anymore, but I just thought i'd voice my opinion and see what you guys think.

 

I agree, I bot accounts but only because everyone else is botting and selling gold and stuff

 

It's true though, there's so many gold farmers/bot everywhere i don't even think theres a legit player anymore:l except him..

 

Yeah it's suddently hit me too how bad this game is right now. Action needs to be taken now and I have a feeling it will.

 

I totally agree.

The only reason I bot is cause everyone does it, and I don't do it to train except for Dungeoneering.

I bot max 10h/day on just one account making about 100k/hour.
These gold farmers with like 5645665 bots are just ruining it.

 

Some goldfarmers are ok, I wish there just, wasn't as many of us.

 

I don't mind some bots.

The bots in f2p is awful. Especially in certain places.

Dragon med helm, granite plate and dragon plate legs with a totally random name like xxjj201 is just ruining the game.

They need to clean up f2p, and the major places in p2p.

Who cares if it's "more rewarding in the end". It's a silly, meaningless game that can be easily exploited to make real-life cash.

 

Its funny though because silent core himself bots.. I used to be best friends with a certain famous youtuber who in turn was good friends with silent core, he told me how silent core bots alot and also would be botting while making one of his vids, but obviously would turn paint off etc.. Not hating but its just what i was told. :/

 

The majority of people who bot is in it to make money.

In the end, real life money > RSGP.

The main problem isnt botting. Its gold farmers that comes with botting.

 

I doubt he bots, if he did he would certainly be banned by now because all those bot videos Jagex probably watches his account

 

I agree with you FerretBuster, RuneScape is going bad.
How can you actually play the game if everywhere you go, if it is mining, woodcutting or dungoneering, you can't even play normal? If you don't bot, you don't stand a chance. It is ridiculous, I say we limit the botting, so we can actually play the game.

this just started botting couple months ago for first time ever after like 7 years of legit play..

in that time iv seenmy greatest stat increases and my first ban ever in my rs history..

but tbh now a days u gota bot atleast something to even the playing field :/

 

i love how you guys are all complaining, everybody who voted for free trade is to blame, jagex told you the risks yet u all still wanted it. So deal with the consequences instead of bitching

If that's really your view on it, your not looking at it from a game perspective -your just in it for the money. Quite frankly I think exploiting a GAME for money is sad, if you really want to make some money go get a job instead of ruining other peoples fun...

Whether or not silentc0re bots my point still stands, I think many people on here who bot themselves would still agree with me. Many people bot because they don't want others to have an unfair advantage, and they do it because it is there. However if there wasn't the temptation to bot, they would be quite happy levelling legitimately.

Again if you have to use runescape to earn real life money, that is kinda sad... I myself owned a bot farm until I shut it down when I realised what I was doing. It only consisted of 2 bots but it was enough to make me realise I was ruining a great game.

I have decided to maybe make a poll, on what people think of botting- i'm not sure I can add one directly to the thread but I will try now. Otherwise I will see if I can find another website to add the poll too.
