    Simple photoshop help

Hey well recently my computer had a virus and it wiped out all my photoshop settings.

Now the one thing that bugs me the most is that my background when i open a new image is white instead of the checker pattern i used to have it as. Its hard to do anything like this so if anyone could remind me how to change it back thatd be great!
    P.s.-inm using cs4

    Thanks,
    Lukef555

The checkerboard pattern is called "transparent"
When you make a new Document, instead of a white backround, choose the Transparent backround from the drop-down list.
