Signature Text, Etc.

I just got Cinema 4d and Photoshop.. I can design the text real nice and got a pretty good grasp on what to do.. But I have yet to figure out how to make cool objects and shapes.. Or stuff come out of the text or wrap around the text etc.. If you could explain how to or refer me to a guide that'd be great, thanks!
