Is pedophilia/ephebophilia a choice?

As most people seem to think heterosexuality, bisexuality, homosexuality, etc are not a choice made by someone; what is your opinion on pedophilia and ephebophilia?

I think it's completely sick and not natural. It's a mental problem 100%.

 

The children part. I like that you use the word "underage".. That is a term defined by our laws.

Back before these laws, girls were married at ages 11-13, and had sex as well.

But, there is a reason the "lolita" principle is to attractive to men, we (Sorry for generalizing) like to think of ourselves as defiling something innocent. So, at some level, men can be attracted to young girls. But being attracted to toddlers and stuff like that, I can't find any arguments towards that.

 

How do you feel about homosexuality?

 

I don't mind it personally. Up to individual, doesn't effect me.

No, you are just directly avoiding the question on the original basic. Pedophilia is not natural, you choose to be a pedophile and therefore I believe that it's 100% sick.

 

Can you therefore temporarily become a pedophile right now? I highly doubt it. I don't believe it is a choice, much like homosexuality.

 

My personal standpoint is that it is not natural to have feelings for someone who is obviously underage (0-14/15)

The problem here is that some 16/17/18 year olds look and act like their adults, which coins the term 'jail bait'.

Sure.

If your trying to say is it natural for a homosexual to be a homosexual? Yes it is.
Is it natural for a person to be homosexual initially? Well socially, no it is not, and my personal standpoint, whatever evidence you can muster for genetics; ultimately homosexuality is in part choice.

it is only a modern thing to not have sex with these underage females, for obvious reasons.

evolutionary psychology tells us that we are attracted to some younger females because they represent fertility. (oddly enough, this also applies to redheads)

I agree with this viewpoint. I'm guessing many people have preconceived notions on the matter due to laws telling you who's underage and who's not.

One is widely considered natural because it what the majority of the male population does.

The other two could be argued about for days without getting anywhere. One is slowly becoming more acceptable, but both are different from the norm.

The idea of both is the same, but the subject is different. People fail to give a logical answer because they are to distracted with morals.

 

It's not a choice...people are born like this.
Just like people are born homosexual, hetrosexual etc,etc.
