This is probably because of the hardware. How old is your computer? What are the specs? How often do you clean your casing (the inside of it)? Are you sure your monitor doesn't have any problem?

Who is the maker of the system and how many beeps are there?

This is most likely an issue with the ram in the system.

The amount of beeps and the length of the beeps will determine what is going on.

Also give us your motherboard model no.\

(I highly doubt it's the ram as it wouldn't even start using this "hardswitch")

by hardswitch, what do you mean?

Are you saying you usually start using a keyboard? if so you've probably just disabled allowing your keyboard from turning on your computer

Are you talking about the switch on the powersupply (back of the computer)?

Most beep codes are related to ram. You can have errors with in a stick of memory that are not always present, that is why I believe it is the ram.

    Why do I think that?

You can stretch your e-peen vs me but I have advanced MS certifications and experience in the field too.

If the computer is starting and things are showing on the screen, then it's most likely NOT the ram. He needs to refer to his motherboard's user manual and look up what beeps are going on to his specific model. It could be a number of things, or it could be a beep that is normal and to notify that all checks ran successfully and there were no issues.

Since things are not showing on the screen(unless he supposedly presses some magic button), but when he does something it DOES show on the screen, then it could be an issue of power supply or something else. Sadly we need more information before we can come to a conclusion though, and we shouldn't come to any until he gives us more information.
