The extra steps to protect your RuneScape account!

Everyone, knows the main steps how to protect it, but I will talk about the extra ones.

- Email, if you registered an email, it will give you a bigger chance to recover an account, if the account is pretty old and if you did not used many emails, you will get a chance recover your account instantly.

- Old recovery questions, re-set them every 1-2 years, because if they will last for a really long time, it will be easier for a hijacker to recover your account, you can use the same answers, it is stupid, but do this.

- If you want to secure your lovely account and if you are not playing RuneScape with it anymore, login once a week or atleast a month to check it, and get some expierence (a few killed npcs is enough).

- Change the bank pin recovery delay from 3 days to 7 days!


These steps are very important, if you know the basics how to secure your accounts and if you will follow these steps, you will reduce the chance of getting robbed to minimum, Thanks.

Some steps are not known even for the most expierenced people.

And many just forget about them.

 

I'd say you're never safe enough. Most of these things are well-known to most people, I was expecting an anti-malware part aswell. Most of the accounts are getting keylogged or phished these days, or at least that's what I'm thinking. Might be useful to include that in the guide aswell.

It is not about the basics and it is not a guide.

 

Best way to protect our account, is build up your own and don't trust accounts that have had a previous owner.

The final step applies even more to those who own accounts with rare names (whether display or login).

If your account is inactive for too long, your name will become available for others.

 

You won't loose your username if you have been active atleast once in 5 years, I am waiting for one username since 2005, and it is still not unavailable, but noone is using it.

Yep, Jagex just unlocked the usernames which was not used at all, someone just created a 3rd level combat account and left it.
