Should homosexuals have the right to get married?

The reason for marriage used to be put a random guy with a random chick get them married and make them have babies, seeming as the babies part isn't really possible between male and male isn't really possible I quess that is also a reason why people wouldn't want it. Not that I am against it in any way.Surely married gay couples are the perfect opportunity for all of the unwanted children in foster homes specially if they want kids.

 

I'm not gay but yes they should because we are on this earth for one life and why not be happy?

 

I have absolutely no problem is homosexuals having some sort of celebration which allows them to become lifetime partners, but marriage is meant to be between a man and a woman. End of story.

 

Marriage isn't meant to be for a man and a woman it's meant to be celebrated and enjoyed between two people who are deeply in love. Saying that it's meant to be celebrated and only for two people of the opposite sex is very medieval and ignorant. It's okay for a man and a woman to get married for a green card, but it's not okay for a gay couple to get married if they're actually in love? Yeah that makes so much sense.

 

Sure, if you're speaking by what the church says, but marriage also receives lawful benefits which shouldn't be denied to any person by what the church has to say.

This is...kinda untrue. I'm sure you don't mean to speak on the church entirely, but my old high school (Catholic high school) recently spoke out against New York State's legalization of gay marriage and mentioned how they "respect" homosexuals, but they refuse to accept any homosexuals into their schools. They're basically denying a good education to any underage student solely on what their sexual preference may be.

I don't see why they should be treat differently, if they want to get married I don't know why people should be against it. There are many people against homosexual people, so I think that they're against it for that purpose.

The textbook definition of marriage is:

1. The formal union of a man and a woman, typically recognized by law, by which they become husband and wife.

So a formal union between a man and another man wouldn't be considered marriage it would have to be referred to as something else.

But I believe everybody has the right to decide who they want to be with so it's not of my concern.

 

Marriage is stupid. Why would you want to follow this costly tradition? If two people love each other why do they have to get married to recognize it? It would benefit a woman because it would reward them finacially if the man decided to divorce.

Personally, not being gay and not having a problem with gay people, the way I see it is this; If they want to be happy, they can and marriage does nothing for people besides a stronger bond and if that's what they truly want then they should be able to achieve that.. But, in saying that, I don't to see 2 gay guys or lesbians making out in public. It's really trashy and it brings up a gag reflex personally and I know people who can't even stand the thought of it. I can't stand Personal Display of Affection (PDA) and with girlfriends in the past, it's never been a problem because they felt the same way and in male-male relationships, the men are both highly affectionate for each other which seems like it would lead to more things like this. I believe they should be able to get married if they truly want it but if it's going to be taken to a public level then the entire gay population shouldn't be able to marry.
