Should homosexuals have the right to get married?

I'm not going to vote on this poll because I don't want to influence the numbers. Anyways what I think is that homosexuals should get married in order to truly have a 100% democratic nation. I'm not gay or anything. Other nations in the world prison or even kill gay people......

Maybe we should let gay people get married when they are truly accepted into the normal society.

I think of marriage as a club. If the leader of the club doesn't want you in, start your own.

This is sort of a loaded question - I don't want the government involved in the marriage business at all.
That said, I don't see why a marriage between two members of the same sex is any different from two members of opposite sexes.

I definitely believe that gays should have the right to marry, but unfortunately the very definition of marriage was derived from the bible as a holy sacrament, and so it is generally the experts on the Bible who decide whether or not gays may practice that holy sacrament. I am not religious at all, but it is their turf.

If they are denied the right to marry, we should have a civil union created with all the same benefits as marriage.

 

Well, who are they to say? Telling people that they can't be married due to their sexual prefrences is just as bad. It's discrimination. And, those fools who actually believe in the bible/God, believe that all of your sins can be forgiven if you ask god to be a part of you, and to help you and stuff.

 

He is saying that marriages are a religious concept and that the church has every right to deny them marriage.
But since in the US being married gives the couple certain benefits, it is unfair for the state to say who can and cannot be married.

 

The country was founded on the basis of religion. Even though we separate church from state it still has a powerful influence on our nation. "In God we trust," "One nation under God." Just a couple examples.

With that being said, the nation was also founded on the bible.

The bible says homosexuality is wrong.

Which brings us back to square one.

The nation, God, and the bible are all directly related. So is homosexuality.

I personally do not like any sort of homosexuality. In fact, I am VERY homophobic. I voted no, they should not be able to get married, its against the bible, which in turn is against the founding principals.

 

Yes, we should enforce everything that the bible tells us. We should not only forbid gay marriage, but we should also

- stone all homosexuals
- stone all disobedient children
- stone a women if she is not a virgin on her wedding night
- allow slavery; and make sure that the slaves are obedient to their masters

Many of the founding fathers were explicitly anti-religious. And the In God We Trust stuff was added in the late 1800s on coins and the 1950s on bills.
It is absolutely nowhere in the Constitution that this is a Christian nation.

I think marriage is something between a man and a woman so therefore I only think marriage should be for them...

However for gay people maybe they could create their own sort of thing for just them. I don't see why they don't do that and call it something else but have it basically be the same thing. ^_^

 

No. I'm sorry but marriage is a sacred thing. If you want to be gay, go ahead. But marriage is between a Man and a Woman. Not a man and a man, or a female and a female. That's not what it was attended to be.
